OFF-SHORE FEATURE: FIN PLANNER

Feb 24, 2016

A Custom Carolina built by Buddy Harris and Heritage Boatworks, The FIN PLANNER is powered by twin Detroit engines that produce 1650 horsepower giving us a cruise speed of 28 knots. The boat is 58 feet long and features 3 air conditioners, a generator, microwave, upgraded communications equipment, a 96 mile radar and a stereo with an iPod dock and a TV. Additionally, there are EPIRB survival suits and a life raft on board. All of these features ensure a safe and comfortable trip for our clients! The Fin Planner is captained by Chris Gornell. Captain Chris has been fishing for a living for 18 years and has held a Captain position for 8 years. He has his 100-ton Master's License. Before taking on a Captain's role, Chris mated for Brynner Parks on the Smoker and for Ronnie Fields on the D.A. Sea. Chris's boat has had the distinct honor of being named the Top Private Boat for most billfish released and also placed in the top 3 of the Ocean City Tuna Tournament several times. Some of Chris's best days fishing include releasing a 36" White Marlin fishing out of Ocean City and releasing a 74" Sailfish while fishing out of Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Fishing has taken Captain Chris all over; from the Outer Banks to Ocean City, to Florida, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and throughout the Caribbean. Captain Chris has won tournaments throughout the U.S. as well as in the Bahamas, Panama and Turks and Caicos. When Chris isn't on the water, he spends his time with his wife, Lauren Gornell and their daughter, Omie, who is named after Lauren's grandfather, the legendary Outer Banks fisherman, Omie Tillett. The First Mate on the Fin Planner is Danny Prettyman. Danny has been a professional mate for over a decade and has fished all over the world. Danny has fished with Captain Chris for over 3 years. Both Chris and Danny are hard working, yet easy-going. They are focused on serving your needs to make your experience on the Fin Planner truly unforgettable!
