GETCHA HEAD RIGHT!
No blow day today here! It was an absolutely gorgeous day to be fishing, we had 13 boats go out Monday morning! The total count was 103 White Marlin and a Blue Marlin release overall for the Billfish. Pretty sick fishing right now! The top boat had 19 flags flying on their riggers. A couple boats did get a nice turn on the dolphin but for the most part everyone was giving the Marlin bite a try. Now is the time to get that Make-Up trip with your buddy and go see what its all about. You have a better chance than ever to catch a billfish if you have never caught one. Grab your polarized fishing glasses and come witness the bait balls and cutters light up the Bluewater! A "cutter" is usually a school of White Marlin or Sailfish that are lit up and actually cutting through a ball of bait with their bill's. When the feeding frenzy is on they are practically jumping out of the water and you see their fin's slicing through the ripples in the water left and right. If you've never seen it before then now is the time, you'll be hooked for life. Blue Marlin do it too but to see that many Blue Marin in one area is kind of rare. You would usually see a Blue one snacking on a pod of dolphin somewhere instead which is even better to witness. Right now the action is right outside our window, even Inshore and Nearshore. Nearshore they have been catching excellent Bluefish and a few nice Spanish, yummy Triggerfish, Drum and Cobia's. Inshore are steady finding the Speckled Trout, perfect Puppy Drum, Spinner Sharks, Cobia's, and even a nice Flounder or two. We have Fly Fishing boats that go for the same things as well. This is our season for the inshore slams right now, Speckles, Puppy Drum and Flounder. We've got it all right down the road in Nags Head on Hwy 12 right before you hit the base of Herbert C. Bonner Bridge (otherwise known as the Oregon Inlet Bridge) on your way to Hatteras! Get down here before you go home and let us put you on some fish. Its never to late to try.
