FISHING-REPORT-10-05-12

Oct 5, 2012

A real seasonal turn aroung in offshore fishing seems to have taken place over the past two days. Blackfin tunas and marlin have given way to yellowfin tunas, dolphin and scattered wahoo.Enough marlin remain to liven things up from time to time particularly blue marlin. An interesting incident involving a blue marlin occured on the Osprey today. Captin Paul Lester's notice was drawn by his mate of a bonita airborn by at least 10 feet followed shortly by another spectacular bonita jump. Soon a blue marlin was hooked that broke off.One offshore boat caught 10 yellowfin tunas and released a bluemalin. Inshore boats caught tailor bluefish, spanish mackerel, false albacore and hound fish. Open boats caught grey trout, flounders, cobia and tailor bluefish. Miss Oregon Inlet caught sea mullet, grey trout and tailor bluefish.
