FISHING-REPORT-09-21-12

Sep 21, 2012

Offshore boats mostly took advantage of the spectacular billfishing that is going on right now. This is the time that billfish usually showup. This year is a little better than average. It is hard to believe that anyplace in the world could be better for white marlin than right here right now. Charter boats and private boats together caught and relesed more than three hundred billfish today. Inshore boats caught nice size tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel. They also caught false albacore. The false albacore are fast and active lots of sport. Open boats caught tailor bluefish, grey trout, flounders and sea mullet. A cobia was caught. I did not see a weight on the cobia, it looked like around 30 pounds to me. There were some nice speckled trout caught and a puppy drum. Grey trout seem to be making a come back. they were important and numerous for many years and then droped in numbers drastically. Miss Oregon Inlet caught flounders, sea mullet and sea bass.
