FISHING-REPORT-08-31-12

Offshore white marlin, followed by sailfish and blue marlin. Several nice wahoo one weighed 52 pounds another 47 pounds. Dolphin were scattered Three boats had very good dolphin catches. We missed getting pictures of two of them. One boat celebrated it's fourth grand slam in 15 days today. A mate of some years never had a grand slam. The boat he was mating on got one on the one day he had to be off.Some blackfin tuna were caught with the marlin. Inshore boats had good catches of tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel.Some bigger than average of both.. Different boats had different cathes, one had very good false albacore running from 15 to 20 pounds. Another inshore boat caught amberjacks and sharks. Open boats had very good speckled trout fishing. Captain Fin Gaddy took his twin sons fishing with Captain Dave Watkins on his open boat. They had a great time catching beautiful speckled trout. In the afternoon some puppy drum were caught with the speckled trout. An allday trip caught dolphin, a king mackerel and a cobia. Miss Oregon Inlet caught croakers, puffers and pigfish in the morning, trout, puffers, croakers and pigfish in the afternoon.
