FISHING-REPORT-08-13-12

Aug 13, 2012

Offshore boats caught good size yellowfin tuna, dolphin and blackfin tuna. A good many sailfish were caught and released along with white marlin and at least two blue marlin. One boat had three white marlin and three sailfish.Inshore boats caught tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel.Inshore bottom fishing produced good catches of trigger fish Spanish mackerel were good size and outnumbered the bluefish.Open boats had very good speckled trout fishing first thing in the morning and pretty good through out the day. A lot of puppy drum showed up just under the size limit. Several open boats did well on spanish mackerel. Miss Oregon Inlet caught croakers, sea mullet and sea robins in the morning adding puffers and flounders in the afternoon. Mark Turner from Maryland, Robert Hamm from Alabama, Jason Thimons from Pa., Sean Duffy from Pa. and Clint Thimons from Pa. all got citations for sailfish releases. Collin Brenner from Va. got a citation for a white marlin release and Allen O'Neal from NC got a citation for a 10 pound sheepshead. I had to include a picture of one of the magnificant boats that are built along the outer banks and form The Oregon Inlet Fishing Center's sports fishing fleet.
