FISHING-REPORT-08-08-12

Offshore boats caught blackfin tuna, dolphin, scattered yellowfin tuna and wahoo. A lot of sailfish and one blue marlin were caught and released .Mark Erikson from Newtown Square, Pa. got a citation for the sailfish he caught and released. Rick Woods from Troutville, Va. got a citation for the blue marlin he caught and released.The bigeye catcher is Sheiler Tripp from Edenton, N.C.,Godwins Craig and Randy are also fom Edenton as well as Waters Brother and Angie, Dwain Davenport completed the party and is from S.C. The wahoo catcher Bryan McFarland in the fifth picture came to OBX for a family reunion. Inshore boats caught tailor bluefish in the morning. Spanish mackerel fishing picked up in the afternoon. One inshore boat had good bottom fishing catching croakers and sea mullet in the morning and flounders in the afternoon. There were a lot of undersized flounders with several keepers measuring around 16 inches in length. One open boat caught a lot of speckled trout, another in an allday trip caught cobias, triggerfish, sea bass and several keeper flounders. Miss Oregon Inlet had great croaker and puffer fishing in the morning, croakers, pigfish and sea bass in the afternoon.
