FISHING REPORT 08-02-17

Aug 2, 2017

The captains were glad to see the blue water return today and were definitely in the meat! Anglers were back in the early afternoon with limits of yellow-fin, some excellent big-eye tuna, good numbers of black-fin, and some great weights on wahoo! Congrats to Armando Garcia - 47 lb wahoo, Nick Kimbrell - 71 lb wahoo, and Sara Trageser - 62 lb wahoo! Super work! Congrats to members of one of our Make-Up Charters for landing those excellent big-eyes, Ronnie Liguzinski and Gary Skarl - 142 lb and to Marc Morrison - 187 lb beast! Great job! An angler from another Make-Up Charter wrangled a sailfish to earn herself a trophy citation: Congrats to Patricia Baugher for her big day and big catch! I'm sure the men will always remember you had the most yellow's as well! Congrats to some great billfish anglers, earning more trophy citations for release of white marlins: Ian Butler, Matthew Brice, Lee Chapman, Jonathan Lajoie, Chase Lane, Taylor Lane, and Brian Sanderson! Awesome!

Near-Shore anglers were pulling in some amazing red drum, most being released to earn a trophy citation for surpassing the minimum 40" requirement. Congrats to Ian Anspach - 46.3", Peter Anspach - 47.9", Lydia Montanino - 48.2", Tyler Montanino - 46.4", and Peter Montanino - 46.1". Nice work! Anglers also pulled in good numbers of spanish macs and excellent numbers of bluefish!

Anglers In-Shore also enjoyed some good red drum fishing today, as well, and there were still a few catches of speckled trout, some spanish, and mullet.

Anglers aboard the Miss Oregon Inlet Headboat had busy trips this morning and afternoon with some great reel action! Catches of flounder, sea mullet, pinfish, pigfish, pufferfish, croaker, spot, and sea robin.

Register your youth angler today for Miss Oregon Inlet's 3rd Annual Youth Fishing Tournament set for Monday, August 7th! Register by phone or in person at the Fishing Center.
