FISHING-REPORT-07-11-12

24 billfish caught and released today including one grand slam cinsisting of several sailfish, a white marlin and to top it off a bluemarlin. The anglers were all members of the Maitland family, Joe, Julia, Jennie and Jack. There was considerable excitment and action recorded on their camcorder. They fished with Captain Tony Tillett in the 1990s.The billfish season is off to an early and impressive start. Along with numerous dolphin some nice size yellowfin tunas were caught, one boat got 11 and a lot of boats had wahoos. Inshore boats had good catches of tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel. Open boats went after several different species. Two had good speckled trout fishing in the morning. Another caught cobia in the morning speckled trout and tailor bluefish in the afternoon. There were some sharks caught and released plus speckled trout on an allday trip. Miss Oregon Inlet caught croakers.
