FISHING REPORT 06-29-12

Typical offshore catches today consisted of limits or close to limits of dolphin and one or two yellwfin tunas. Exceptions were boats with all yellowfin tunas. The yellowfins were good size and there were gaffer sized dolphins amongst the school size fish. David Ritz from Pittsburg, Pa. got a citation for the sailfish he caught and released, Joseph McMahon from Netcong, NJ got a citatiopn for the white marlin he caught and released. Aaron Stitt from Indiana, Pa. got a citation for the 48 pound wahoo he caught.Inshore boats caught tailor bluefish and spanish mackerel. Open boats caught a variety of fish some caught speckled some caugt tailor bluefish, others caught and released sharks and there were combinaion of two or more species. Two of the open boats had cobias. Miss Oregon Inlet caught grey trout (weakfish), croakers and a mixture of other bottom fish. A citation sheepshead weighhing 10 pounds was brought to Oregon Inlet Fishing Center for verification and an official weight.
