FISHING-REPORT-05-21-12

May 21, 2012

Outstanding offshore fishing.Lots of good size yellowfin tunas and gaffer size dolphins. Several boats caught wahoos, one weighed in at 48 pounds. An impressive big eye tuna was landed it weighed 125 pounds. Inshore made a variety of species their targets. Some caught abd released sharks, blacktips, spinners and atlantic sharp nose. The sharks were medium size and active. Spanish mackerel ans tailor bluefish were caught in the ocean along the beach. A lot of speckled trout and bluefish were caught in the sound. The speckled trout tended to be a couple inches under the size limit but there were some keepers and good action. The blue fish were from one pound to about a pound and a half. Miss Oregon Inlet caught flounders. Billy Hoenig from Virginia Beach got a citaion for his 48 pound wahoo.Scott Butters from Willow Springs, NC got a citation for his 125 pound big eye tuna.

Oregon Inlet Fishing Center is open Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. & Friday-Sunday 4:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. weather permitting. Fuel Dock does not open until 8:00 a.m.
