FEATURE REPORT: THE HOOKER

Jan 10, 2016

OFF-SHORE FLEET

Mate: Scott Sumner

Captain Tom Krauss has been fishing out of Oregon Inlet for more than 30 years strong and has solidified his ranking as one of the most respected captains in the area. His knowledge and experience on the water is vast and evidence of both can be found in daily fishing reports posted around the Outer Banks and across the internet. Captain Tom has a genuine love for fishing, so much so that he even spends his days off with a hook in the water. Whether they are testing out new tackle or experimenting with the latest technology at the helm, Captain Tom and Scott do it with one goal on their mind......to provide their anglers with the best opportunity to fulfill their lifelong dream of landing the big fish!

"The Hooker" is a 50 ft custom Carolina boat built by Billy Holton and she comes equipped with heating and air conditioning, making this vessel comfortable for charter year round. The salon is well-appointed with well-maintained facilities, microwave, stereo/cd, and is fully rigged with the latest in electronics and tackle to ensure a great day of gulf stream fishing. "The Hooker" and its crew are not strangers when it comes to competition, either. The boat hosts lady anglers each year for the Alice Kelley Memorial Billfish Tourney, the Pirates Cove Tourney, and was winner of the 2013 East/West Tourney for Most Blue Marlin, just to name a few. Captain Tom has many accolades to his credit, but his prized catch is his wife of more than 27 years, Janice. The Krauss family boasts two daughters, Kristen and Kelly, and, of course, the grandchildren.
