EAST VS. WEST BANQUET NIGHT
Yesterday October 16th was a busy busy day, sorry everyone! We had lots going on around the fishing community here on the Outer Banks! Our 38th Annual East/West banquet was held this recent Wednesday night and were all getting ready for it! The East/West is where our Offshore boats hold a private Billfish tournament between the Captains and Mates of our 3 marinas, Broad Creek Marina, Pirates Cove Marina and ourselves at OIFC. Each year we vote for the 'Captain and Mate of the year' for each side, the East side and the West side. The teams are created before the season begins by the Team Captains, who also have to count the billfish caught from May 1st to September 30th every day the boats are fishing. Even if they aren't fishing, it is the Team Captain's jobs to find out from another Captain the score. It is really a super fun way to keep tabs on the action throughout the year! This year we even included some awards for the most Blue Marlin caught, the most White Marlin caught, the biggest Tuna, biggest Dolphin and biggest Wahoo! With the insane fishing we had this year, it was pretty awesome to see the statistics add up for everyone! Just like any other tournament, there are some rules to this also. You can only count the fish that are caught by a certain time, so the fish caught after this time are not included! Everyone was really anxious to see the results and see who got their fishing rods/reels for Captain and Mate of the year!
On top of the Banquet we did also have 4 boats that went fishing yesterday! The guys caught some limits of dolphin! We were glad to have them and glad to have the guys make a day with everything else going on! Here are your pics for Wednesday October 16th... results of the E/W to follow
