Dream Girl

Apr 5, 2021

From bow to stern, the 57 foot Billy Baum custom, “Dream Girl” lays in slip number seventeen on the west side of the creek. The Dream Girl is the only boat at Oregon Inlet with a tower specifically designed for tuna fishing. Cruising to the fishing grounds at about 24 knots powered by twin Cat-C 12s, the Dream Girl has been fishing out of Oregon Inlet for more than 50 years. Builder and owner, Billy Baum ran her until 2000 after 50 seasons fishing out of Oregon Inlet and 32 winter seasons in Florida. She has been in the family and taken over 60,000 people fishing in her time. In the bridge the captain is equipped with a full navigational system and fish finder electronics. A sizable cabin is furnished with comfortable sofas, a bathroom, air conditioning and microwave all there to bring at home comfort to the gulf stream. In the cockpit you’ll find three chairs, all with straps for safety while cranking in your catch. Dreaming but not sleeping, she is prepared for all kinds of fishing with a large fish box and over 30 rods and reels, spinning tackle, heavy tackle, standup, TLD’s, bailing rods, and down riggers. The crew has gear ready for casting, chunking, trolling, deep water, spreader bars, and dangler baits with kites.

Just as many captains do, Jason Snead started as a mate in the area and worked his way to captain on several commercial and private charter boats on the east coast. In 2004 Captain Jason took over the helm of the beauty blue boat and in 2009 was named Oregon Inlet Captain of the year. Jason enjoys each and every fishing trip offshore but also enjoys life on the island with his family!

For a full day offshore fishing on the Dream Girl it cost $2,268. This includes everything you need for fishing except for your lunch and beverages for the day. Oregon Inlet requires a deposit of half and recommends a mate tip of 15-20%. Leaving around five in the morning and slapping fish on the docks at about four in evening, at this time our fish cleaners will be ready to give your catch a quick clean for an extra fee; which is anywhere from .45 cents to .75 cents a pound. Quick, get your coolers and book the Dream Girl for 2021 tuna season!
