Hooked
Sorry we weren't able to show you the day it happened but THURSDAY we had a BLUE MARLIN on our boom. It's very rare that we see it but when we do it's such an exciting experience to witness.
Offshore came in today with mahi-mahi and limits of yellow fin tuna
Nearshore hit the docks with spanish mackerel, ribbons, blues, drum and cobia.
Inshore came back in with speckled trout, red drum and some were able to get out to the ocean side for some cobia.

Vessels Continue to Sail
Earlier this morning there was an article released deeming the Oregon Inlet not navigable to vessels. Based on where markers are currently set and the shoaling that has accumulated, that would be true. HOWEVER, our charters set their plotters by hand and in a way that does not directly correspond with the aforementioned markers allowing them to continue maneuvering through the channels and inlet.
In the event that Oregon Inlet Fishing Center vessels not be able to sail, the booking desk or captains would reach out directly. Fortunately, that is not the situation, and we are still fishing everyday when the weather is in our favor :)
Sunday/Monday Mahi Madness + Photo Dump
We've had an empty creek the last couple days, and it hasn't been for nothing! Tons of mahi made its way back to our docks, along with good handfuls of yellowfin and blackfin tuna! Nearshores have been doing well with the bluefish, spanish mackerel, and seabass; while inshores are still slaying the speckled trout and red drum!
A busy weekend here at OIFC, with tons of pictures to show!
Empty Creek
There's nothing like coming to the marina in the morning seeing an empty creek with a slick sheer sound back view.
All of our offshore boats made an attempt to get out onto the meat today. Coming back in with wahoo, big eye tuna, yellow fin tuna, black fin tuna, false albacore, king mackerel and mahi-mahi. Two sails today were hooked and released.
Blue fish bites all through out the near shore. Tomorrow starts the 2022 black sea bass season and we are here for it!
Happy anglers inshore with red drum and speckled trout.
The water has cooled down from all that mess in weather we experienced this past week but a shore fishing report today consisted of blue fish and red drum. We haven't heard much from the Bonner pier other than some sheepshead bites.

Back On The Water
Man, oh man, are we happy to be fishing again. This past weeks gale has really thrown everyone in a loop!
A little rocky out there but 11 of our offshore boats were surprised and excited they could make it out. Wahoo, mahi, king mackerel, yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna and false albacores were caught and brought back to the docks. A hooked and released sail as well!
Our nearshore boats stayed slipped today but we will see them go out tomorrow.
Inshore despite the rain the sound was slick as glass, bringing in trout and red drum.
Now that the Basnight bridge is back in action to get to Hatteras Island the Bonner Pier is open and accessible. Last week before the closure of the bride due to ocean and sand over wash on 12 there were killer sheepshead bites!

A Pirate's Life
What did the pirate say about the winds?
RRRRRRRRRG you kidding me?
We can relate to that joke....Probably the last day out for a few days due to the high winds coming our way this week. Three offshore boats put on their pirate hats and hit the sea coming back in with gaffer mahi, yellow fin tuna and released marlins.
Even though our nearshore boats didn't have trips, they still went out and played around since the cobia's are starting to come in while also catching blue fish and spanish mackerel.
Our inshore boats laid low today but the drum and trout are still biting sound side.
Sheepshead bites are strong on the Bonner Pier.

But they same right past them...

Nearshore stayed on the inside but came back with blue catfish.
