No sail today, the weather kept our entire fleet in the creek. Although, there was no fishing there was plenty of action here at the fishing center. From folks checking out the boats and meeting captains to getting a BBQ sandwich or t-shirt, it was a great day! Saturday's weather is looking just as freaky, so if you're looking for something to do come get some Dippin' Dots and check out our merchandise!
Today we had a total of twenty six boats fish, which means we're just getting closer to summer! Our inshore guys had some speckled trout, grey trout, striped bass, white perch and even flounder. As for our nearshore fleet; there were multiple reports of false albacore, some sharks and sea bass. Our offshore fleet had a great day as well; with reports of two blue fin tunas, eight black fin tunas, bonito mackerel and a sailfish release. The blue fin tunas resulted in citations for the lucky parties! The weather is not in our favor for fishing the next couple days, but be sure to check back for Sundays report.
Our guys worked hard on the water Wednesday with some good returns. The inshore fleet came back with reports of flounders, speckled trout, and rock fish! Nearshore guys followed in with sharks and false albacore. And lastly our offshore crews threw mixes of mahi mahi, false albacore, yellowfin and blackfin tunas onto the docks, as well as reporting a released sailfish! Regarding this weekends scheduled Miss Oregon Inlet season kickoff: it has been delayed until Saturday due to some mechanical issues. If you have booked tickets for Friday, reservationists will be calling you with the option of refunding or rescheduling. Thank you!
Not only did the tunas have some size on them today, but they were bountiful! Our offshore charter parties did not come back disappointed. There were even a few mahi mahi in the mix; expect more of them with the temperature warming up. Even the nearshore guys got some action and reeled in some pretty red drum! However if you're more of a watcher than catcher, our Safari dolphin tours begin this Saturday, April 20th. Plenty of availability is left, just give us a call here at the fishing center or go online and book yourself. We'll see you then!
The wind left everybody in their slips on Monday, but that doesn't mean we weren't busy! The phones kept the reservationists busy with inquiries about the Miss Oregon Inlet's opening day. She sails for the first time on Friday, April 19 to kick off the 2019 head boat season. There are still tickets available, but they are limited! Miss OI will go again Saturday, April 20th with a minimum of 10 persons.
Tunas are here. Tunas are there. Tunas everywhere! Yellowfin to be more specific. We also had some blackfin tunas as well as some mahi and king mackerel. Tomorrow looks like the wind may kick up a bit, jeopardizing some fishing time. But never count on the forecast here, it can change on a dime.
Our guys were in the meat Saturday! Good mixes of yellowfin and blackfin tunas as well as some mahi and wahoo came from 9 boats that went offshore! We even had a nearshore come in with a fishing report of blacktips, bluefish, and false albacore. The season is picking up, make sure you experience it here first hand with some of the best captains on the East Coast!
It's Monday and even the fish were dragging their feet a little at first. But luckily our only boat fishing today was ready; they came back to the dock with 2 yellow fin and 3 false albacore tunas. Plenty of openings for the rest of the week for those itching to go!
If you like yellow fin tuna and were waiting on a sign to get out there and catch them yourself, here it is! Our fleet crushed it today, and snagged a few mahi along the way. Check out the pics and see for yourself! Call or book online to become a part of the action.
Only a couple of blackfin tunas were reported back to us from our offshore fleet, as well as some dog sharks for the nearshore guys. TGIF! Because Saturday looks as if the weather might behave for our 10 boats going out. Stay tuned for another fishing report tomorrow or become a part of the action by reserving right here online!
