Spanish Mackerels were in piles on the dock this morning! That and some Triggerfish, Bluefish, Sea Mullet, and even a pretty Gray Trout that was a NICE one! One Cobia was caught and weighed, he was 18 LBS! The view down here is gorgeous right now, the water is nice and calm and the sun just came out. The sky is so pretty, you can sit around here and watch people take it all in. The boats went back out for their PM trips right after lunchtime, and the Miss Oregon Inlet went on both of her trips today too. If you can get your kids out on one of our half day trips it would be a memory they'll never forget. We saw so many kids having fun this morning, there's nothing like seeing that smile on their face from going fishing! Best thing in the world for a child! Give us a call today, we have some trips waiting just for you! Offshore guys will be in after 3 most likely but we will send you that update on Facebook and Twitter so keep your phone in your pocket! We are steady putting together make-up trips and taking requests to get to the gulfstream. Don't think twice about the great time you should be having out there! Put this number in your phone 252.441.6301 and let us book that trip! Have a beautiful day everyone!!!
Today a front moved in with some light NE winds and rain and pushed offshore. Instead of continuing to pass through it just sat still on top of our guys fishing offshore. They had harder conditions due to the rain but some still managed to find the fish. It was a gorgeous day out there until the rain started, but Inshore stayed pretty. We had 2 Bigeye tunas captured today. One was 176 and the other was 134 LBS! The crowd today was clapping and getting pretty excited for them as they pulled them out of the fish box. We had one good dolphin catch but everyone else seemed to find the tunas and maybe a gaffer or a wahoo. These yellowfin's were pretty fish, between 30 and 50lb fish. Just how we like it! Inshore/Nearshore got to find the monster school of drum and cobia's out there today. There were about 8 citations for releases with those. If you haven't witnessed the drum fishing that we get down here, you definitely should try to. Once you see it you will understand why, its something else. Other than those we had some more excellent Spanish Mackerel, shark, triggerfish, and Speckled Trout fishing. The Miss Oregon Inlet is doing pretty good on their AM's and PM's. Their fishing has picked up a lot more than it has been. Captain Jerry, First Mate Mark and Second Mate Ashley are first class and will take care of you to show you a great time. Grab your kids and get them one of our rods in their hands! If you don't have a trip booked this week, Call us and we will get you on your perfect boat 252.441.6301. Do it for yourself because you deserve it!!!
Fishing was great this morning! Nearshores came in and brought some great Triggerfish, Spanish Macks, White Dotter Sharks and Bluefish home. Inshore got on the Speckled Trout and Cobia's. We had 10 Cobia's come from the AM trips. The biggest one was 56 LBS! We love our Cobia's! Come down and see us this afternoon when I facebook and tweet the first boat coming in! Yesterday we had people booking trips off the dock, and today we can help you out just the same! Give us a call at 252.441.6301 or come down and book it with one of our friendly booking desk girls. We are looking forward to seeing you and what our boys are going to throw on the dock! Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter even if you just "like" and "follow" Oregon Inlet Fishing Center!!! We have hundreds of pictures for you to see every day on both so check us out!!! See you at the dock!!!
Today was a great day to be fishing! They had to go find them but we are so glad they did! We had 4 Bigeye citations weighing 226, 209, 146, 112 LBS!!! The yellowfin tuna showed up today and every boat seemed to get some meat to take home! These fish were a little bigger fish this time. If it wasn't tuna they still had some other things caught like a limit of dolphin or even a nice big Wahoo. It was a dry hot day but the clouds came in and cooled us off just in time for the throw down on the dock. We had great Inshore and Nearshore fishing this afternoon as well as in the morning report. Our people caught some more Triggerfish Spanish Mackerels and more COBIAS!!! It was a beautiful day to find a brown fish out there! If you're ready to go we are SO ready to take you!!! Call us at 252.441.6301 or book it online if you don't want to wait another minute!!! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter and share us with all of your friends and Family! Tomorrow should be another pretty day so come down and see us and even better come fishing with us!!!!
Have a great night!!!
Happy Tuesday everyone!!! Our AM trips got in right before lunchtime like usual. This time was a little different since everyone actually had something different. For Nearshore one of our boats had a fishbox full of Triggerfish that some were the size of a dinner plate. Some pretty fish! Triggerfish get their name because of their top dorsal fin that sticks straight up and when you push on it, it won't lay down. The trick is to push the smaller fin directly behind it that allows the fin to move and acts like a "trigger" The fin will lay down, but only if you push the trigger. Kind of a neat thing to know if you ever catch one! But be careful they have teeth!! Other than the Spanish Mackerel fishing that we have been having the Nearshore also had some Bluefish caught, White Dotter Sharks, Bonitas and maybe an Amberjack or two but they didn't bring them in. Inshore had some great Speckled Trout fishing and a couple Sea Mullets on spinning reels, also some flounder. A man and his son from Pennsylvania got to hook up to a nice Cobia that weighed in at 54 lbs!! Pretty work guys! Our sweet headboat The Miss Oregon Inlet has been fishing every AM and PM trip and reporting some good croakers, seamullet, and flounder fishing. The thing about fishing on the Miss O.I. is you never really know what kind of fish you might hook up on. Some of our bottom fish are pretty interesting looking around here and the kids absolutely love them. Each trip goes out for 4.5 hours and the boat has a men's and women's bathroom and you are welcome to bring a small lunchbox cooler that fits under the bench. Its better to book in advance and get here early for us to get a headcount since we must have 10 people to go! Sundays are the only day the boat doesn't fish so call us today and book your tickets over the phone or pay cash and receive a dollar discount! We will be down here all day waiting for the boats to come in, keep up with us on Facebook by clicking the link on the homepage or Follow us on Twitter to find out when the boats start coming in! Some of you don't really like Facebook but if you want to see tons more pictures and updates its really worth creating an account! Besides if you go fishing with us you can see your own pictures in our Albums page! Don't forget to share them with your friends and save them to your computers! Try it out!!!
What's up with the wind today, geez! Our guys made it back from the gulfstream with some dolphin and yellowfin tuna catches. Not every day is going to be a meat feast but our people were all having a good time and happy with their results. The tuna fishing isn't really a guarantee for July so to see them coming in still is a wonderful thing! There was a 42 LB Wahoo citation today and a 54 LB Cobia citation turned in. We also had another 3 Cobias caught in the 20- 30 LB class range. Tomorrow we have 3 boats available offshore as of right now, so we are looking forward to seeing what everyone brings home then. Inshore/Nearshore boats are booked both AM and PM trips tomorrow except for 2 PM's that are still available. Half day and All day trips are always a blast with our Captains and Mates. Once you get to know us down here you'll have a friend for life. We are a little crazy. :) call us at 252.441.6301 and bring on the fun, we are ready to roll!
It rained all day here on land but there wasn't any rain offshore, they said it was absolutely beautiful out there! We had 18 boats go offshore and almost all of our Inshore/Nearshore boats went. Inshore had some nice Cobia fishing with one 52 lb Citation turned in. Nearshore hooked up with the Spanish Mackerels all morning and some Triggerfish. The fishing has been a little bit of everything Offshore. Each day seems to change a little too, today the Tunas were a little hungrier and seemed to be a nicer class of fish. There was a Blue Marlin and 2 White Marlin releases today as well. We have some boats available this week when you're ready to get in on the action. Nothing is better than catching your own fish to grill up on vacation! Its only Monday so plan your fishing trips with us now and get excited!!! We love making friends so come down and see us, call us, text us, write us, but make sure you book us so we can go have a good time fishing with you! We have Inshore, Nearshore, Offshore, and Headboat sound trips available. Call 441.6301 anywhere from 5AM to 7PM every day of the week and we will make it happen!
Today we had 14 boats total go fishing. 3 were Inshore/Nearshores and they had nothing but Bluefish! It's so weird to see all Spanish one day and then all Bluefish the next. Sometimes a little change is nice! The Miss Oregon Inlet went out on both trips today and also told me that so far their best trip of the season was yesterday! Lots of croakers, sea mullet and some flounder! If you want to take the kids out fishing you should think about an AM or a PM trip. 2 of our Offshore boats already came in earlier with some nice dolphin. The other 9 are all that we have left out so we will have to wait and see what else they have in store for us. Hope you guys are having a fun Saturday!! Its windy down here but its another gorgeous day!!!
Only 11 of our boats fished offshore today but they are all back home and tied up now. There are 2 pretty blue flags flying out there which means we had a couple White Marlins caught and released. Every boat had their meat today if it was a meat slam (Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo), a limit of dolphin, a handful of yellowfin tunas or even a Bigeye. Only one Bigeye was caught today but it was a huge one weighing 191 lbs!!! It was taller than the group of guys holding it up. Pretty exciting to get to put a fish that big in your fish box! Some of our boats are available this week if you think you might enjoy cranking in some of these good lookin' fish. Our Make-Up trips are steady getting placed together as fast as we can match them. If you don't have 6 people we try to suggest you sign up for our Make-up trips as early as you can to ensure you get your trip. Headboat tickets are for sale for AM and PM trips daily but try not to forget that they do not go on Sundays. Call us anytime you're feeling down about fishing and we will try to cheer you up by putting down your deposit for an Offshore, Nearshore, or Inshore trip!!! Get outta here and onto the water! 252.441.6301 or book online! Have a nice evening!
Wow this summer is flying by fast!! Good Afternoon everyone!!! Today is the first day of the Boat Builder's Tournament and we want to wish some BIG FISH to a few of our boats that are fishing in it!!! Good Luck you guys!!! This morning the wind has picked up a little so things are changing around some for the fishing but we are still getting it. 5 of our Nearshore boats that didn't have All day trips today came in with the Spanish Mackerels and even a couple Bluefish this time. It was a little overcast feeling around here at first but the sun is shining bright right now. Inshore found the Speckled Trout and even caught and released a couple Cobia's and Sharks. We did have one Cobia that was big enough to keep, and there was also a little hit on the dolphin fishing! People don't know it but we see dolphin inshore all the time. Sometimes you'll see them swim right under the bridge. Small ones of course but having that water blasting through the inlet brings in all kinds of random things. We have such a great mark on the map, there is really no place like Oregon Inlet! We know where to take you when you're ready to come fishing with us so don't hesitate to get in line. We are booking trips all the time so give us a call and we can help you book the perfect trip @ 252.441.6301!!! Look for tweets and Facebook updates today to see when the fleet is coming in!
The first couple boats this afternoon started out with a bang when there was a Bigeye brought in that weighed in at 168lbs!!! After that it seemed like there were just dolphin everywhere. Just like someone dumped them out of the sky all over the place. Yep, exactly. We did have a couple boats get on the tunas but right now its really hit or miss still. Wahoo citation of the day was 50 lbs and we had a 35 lb gaffer dolphin too. Man they are the prettiest fish when they get big like that. Billfish caught today include 3 sailfish and 1 blue marlin! Our Inshore/Nearshore boats had some Spanish mackerels again, some had strictly bluefish which was weird. White Dotter Sharks, Triggerfish, Amberjacks, a couple trout and puppy drum were brought home and there were also some Spinner shark and Cobia releases. Get your trips booked online directly by using a credit card or just call your friendly booking desk girls tomorrow and reserve your dates. We'll get you out on the water as fast as we can and make your vacation something you'll never forget! Call us 7 days a week from 5AM to 7PM at 252.441.6301! Have a wonderful weekend, hopefully we will be seeing you!!!
Yes, its true. Fishing was great this morning! Our awesome cockpit coordinators got on 'em today folks! Trolling, casting, fly fishing, and bottom fishing, we had some good fish come in! There were a couple red drum caught out there, the guys told me 6 rods went down and they snagged 4 big ones. Weight is guessed by measurement so these were in the 45LB range. We had some Triggerfish and a couple Cobia's were caught too. The word on Cobia fishing seems to be that there are more males out there right now. Males usually tend to be smaller than females but they have been catching and releasing those that aren't big enough. The two that we had today were about 15- 20lb fish. And oh man, the Mackerel were just as pretty as you wanted them today. Get a pile of those pretty fish and you're set! IF you want to get out there call us, we are booking trips pretty steady now.. 252.441.6301. Keep your phones by you for our update tweets. Its a GORGEOUS day, don't forget to drink water! We sell that down here if you need an excuse to come see us :) Headboat is completely booked for the AM trip tomorrow, but you still have time to go in the afternoon if you call now. Make-ups are being put together too call as early as you can so we can get you out there! The earlier the better!
We had another beautiful day down here at the Fishing Center! Once the first boat came under the bridge, everyone seemed to start streaming in. Inshore, Nearshore and our Offshore. We had some great dolphin fishing on almost every single boat and there were some really pretty tunas caught but there were only a few. The tuna fishing is very hit or miss right now so getting one or two is a great little bonus. We had 3 or 4 Wahoo's caught today! One weighed 83 LBS! It was bigger than a 8 year old kid. Seriously. Our Nearshore fishing brought in some Cobia's and even some dolphin. Spanish Mackerels extended to the PM trips and made more piles of fish on the dock this afternoon. Get yourselves on the boat ASAP and grab the action for yourselves. Call us at 252.441.6301 and book your trips or get online as you are right now and book it!
To the many people who knew him and had the pleasure of fishing with him aboard the Miss Oregon Inlet, Our dear friend Captain Chris Tames peacefully passed away in his sleep Monday night. It was hard to believe at first but we know that you are somewhere far greater than we could ever imagine. When we look up at the sky we will know that you are okay and hope that one day we can spend time with you and hear your stories once again. You were a teacher to many and a great friend to us all here at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Personally I'd like to Thank You for being my friend even at the stubborn age of 19 when you couldn't tell me any different. I will never forget the times you would pull the boat back in the slip to pick me up when I was late or yell at me when I wanted to untangle the worst knot in history. Those memories we all have of you will never be forgotten and we will always carry them close to our hearts. We send out all of our love and deepest sympathy to your family and especially your sweetheart and wife Shelia. We love you and will miss you dearly. Give Dave Bragg a hug for us. Rest peacefully old friend, until we all meet again.
As hot as it is out here you'd think people would be piling onto the boats to get off this ew yucky land! Just kidding, I know all the people down here did just that today! We had 20 Offshore boats go out this morning. Our Nearshore guys went on both trips if they didn't have an ALL DAY trip, and our Inshore's were the same. The results from the morning were beautiful! The Spanish Mackerel fishing has been excellent, (knock on wood) and All day trips have been getting on the triggerfish, Amberjack, and even a few dolphin! The mornings have been providing our Inshore boats with Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum, and some Cobia's on the fly. As far as the citations go we had some releases, 4 Blue Marlin and 2 red drum. The dolphin fishing is here now for sure, the docks looked like the yellow brick road. If you want to go fishing I'm not going to bug you anymore tonight about it, but TOMORROW, I'll be back in full swing! Call us in the morning at 5AM or you can wait and call between that and 7pm. Book your trip online if you don't like talking on the phone. Either way, we can't wait to see you out on the water! Follow us all week on Facebook and Twitter @FISHOIFC to see when the boats start coming in. Our 3,333rd like on Facebook will receive a free OIFC Tshirt!!! You just can't like us ENOUGH! :) Have a nice evening!
