Today we had 14 boats total go fishing. 3 were Inshore/Nearshores and they had nothing but Bluefish! It's so weird to see all Spanish one day and then all Bluefish the next. Sometimes a little change is nice! The Miss Oregon Inlet went out on both trips today and also told me that so far their best trip of the season was yesterday! Lots of croakers, sea mullet and some flounder! If you want to take the kids out fishing you should think about an AM or a PM trip. 2 of our Offshore boats already came in earlier with some nice dolphin. The other 9 are all that we have left out so we will have to wait and see what else they have in store for us. Hope you guys are having a fun Saturday!! Its windy down here but its another gorgeous day!!!
Only 11 of our boats fished offshore today but they are all back home and tied up now. There are 2 pretty blue flags flying out there which means we had a couple White Marlins caught and released. Every boat had their meat today if it was a meat slam (Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo), a limit of dolphin, a handful of yellowfin tunas or even a Bigeye. Only one Bigeye was caught today but it was a huge one weighing 191 lbs!!! It was taller than the group of guys holding it up. Pretty exciting to get to put a fish that big in your fish box! Some of our boats are available this week if you think you might enjoy cranking in some of these good lookin' fish. Our Make-Up trips are steady getting placed together as fast as we can match them. If you don't have 6 people we try to suggest you sign up for our Make-up trips as early as you can to ensure you get your trip. Headboat tickets are for sale for AM and PM trips daily but try not to forget that they do not go on Sundays. Call us anytime you're feeling down about fishing and we will try to cheer you up by putting down your deposit for an Offshore, Nearshore, or Inshore trip!!! Get outta here and onto the water! 252.441.6301 or book online! Have a nice evening!
Wow this summer is flying by fast!! Good Afternoon everyone!!! Today is the first day of the Boat Builder's Tournament and we want to wish some BIG FISH to a few of our boats that are fishing in it!!! Good Luck you guys!!! This morning the wind has picked up a little so things are changing around some for the fishing but we are still getting it. 5 of our Nearshore boats that didn't have All day trips today came in with the Spanish Mackerels and even a couple Bluefish this time. It was a little overcast feeling around here at first but the sun is shining bright right now. Inshore found the Speckled Trout and even caught and released a couple Cobia's and Sharks. We did have one Cobia that was big enough to keep, and there was also a little hit on the dolphin fishing! People don't know it but we see dolphin inshore all the time. Sometimes you'll see them swim right under the bridge. Small ones of course but having that water blasting through the inlet brings in all kinds of random things. We have such a great mark on the map, there is really no place like Oregon Inlet! We know where to take you when you're ready to come fishing with us so don't hesitate to get in line. We are booking trips all the time so give us a call and we can help you book the perfect trip @ 252.441.6301!!! Look for tweets and Facebook updates today to see when the fleet is coming in!
The first couple boats this afternoon started out with a bang when there was a Bigeye brought in that weighed in at 168lbs!!! After that it seemed like there were just dolphin everywhere. Just like someone dumped them out of the sky all over the place. Yep, exactly. We did have a couple boats get on the tunas but right now its really hit or miss still. Wahoo citation of the day was 50 lbs and we had a 35 lb gaffer dolphin too. Man they are the prettiest fish when they get big like that. Billfish caught today include 3 sailfish and 1 blue marlin! Our Inshore/Nearshore boats had some Spanish mackerels again, some had strictly bluefish which was weird. White Dotter Sharks, Triggerfish, Amberjacks, a couple trout and puppy drum were brought home and there were also some Spinner shark and Cobia releases. Get your trips booked online directly by using a credit card or just call your friendly booking desk girls tomorrow and reserve your dates. We'll get you out on the water as fast as we can and make your vacation something you'll never forget! Call us 7 days a week from 5AM to 7PM at 252.441.6301! Have a wonderful weekend, hopefully we will be seeing you!!!
Yes, its true. Fishing was great this morning! Our awesome cockpit coordinators got on 'em today folks! Trolling, casting, fly fishing, and bottom fishing, we had some good fish come in! There were a couple red drum caught out there, the guys told me 6 rods went down and they snagged 4 big ones. Weight is guessed by measurement so these were in the 45LB range. We had some Triggerfish and a couple Cobia's were caught too. The word on Cobia fishing seems to be that there are more males out there right now. Males usually tend to be smaller than females but they have been catching and releasing those that aren't big enough. The two that we had today were about 15- 20lb fish. And oh man, the Mackerel were just as pretty as you wanted them today. Get a pile of those pretty fish and you're set! IF you want to get out there call us, we are booking trips pretty steady now.. 252.441.6301. Keep your phones by you for our update tweets. Its a GORGEOUS day, don't forget to drink water! We sell that down here if you need an excuse to come see us :) Headboat is completely booked for the AM trip tomorrow, but you still have time to go in the afternoon if you call now. Make-ups are being put together too call as early as you can so we can get you out there! The earlier the better!
We had another beautiful day down here at the Fishing Center! Once the first boat came under the bridge, everyone seemed to start streaming in. Inshore, Nearshore and our Offshore. We had some great dolphin fishing on almost every single boat and there were some really pretty tunas caught but there were only a few. The tuna fishing is very hit or miss right now so getting one or two is a great little bonus. We had 3 or 4 Wahoo's caught today! One weighed 83 LBS! It was bigger than a 8 year old kid. Seriously. Our Nearshore fishing brought in some Cobia's and even some dolphin. Spanish Mackerels extended to the PM trips and made more piles of fish on the dock this afternoon. Get yourselves on the boat ASAP and grab the action for yourselves. Call us at 252.441.6301 and book your trips or get online as you are right now and book it!
To the many people who knew him and had the pleasure of fishing with him aboard the Miss Oregon Inlet, Our dear friend Captain Chris Tames peacefully passed away in his sleep Monday night. It was hard to believe at first but we know that you are somewhere far greater than we could ever imagine. When we look up at the sky we will know that you are okay and hope that one day we can spend time with you and hear your stories once again. You were a teacher to many and a great friend to us all here at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Personally I'd like to Thank You for being my friend even at the stubborn age of 19 when you couldn't tell me any different. I will never forget the times you would pull the boat back in the slip to pick me up when I was late or yell at me when I wanted to untangle the worst knot in history. Those memories we all have of you will never be forgotten and we will always carry them close to our hearts. We send out all of our love and deepest sympathy to your family and especially your sweetheart and wife Shelia. We love you and will miss you dearly. Give Dave Bragg a hug for us. Rest peacefully old friend, until we all meet again.
As hot as it is out here you'd think people would be piling onto the boats to get off this ew yucky land! Just kidding, I know all the people down here did just that today! We had 20 Offshore boats go out this morning. Our Nearshore guys went on both trips if they didn't have an ALL DAY trip, and our Inshore's were the same. The results from the morning were beautiful! The Spanish Mackerel fishing has been excellent, (knock on wood) and All day trips have been getting on the triggerfish, Amberjack, and even a few dolphin! The mornings have been providing our Inshore boats with Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum, and some Cobia's on the fly. As far as the citations go we had some releases, 4 Blue Marlin and 2 red drum. The dolphin fishing is here now for sure, the docks looked like the yellow brick road. If you want to go fishing I'm not going to bug you anymore tonight about it, but TOMORROW, I'll be back in full swing! Call us in the morning at 5AM or you can wait and call between that and 7pm. Book your trip online if you don't like talking on the phone. Either way, we can't wait to see you out on the water! You just can't like us ENOUGH! :) Have a nice evening!
This morning has been nothing but gorgeous! We had our AM trips come in with some Speckled Trout and they caught some sharks on the fly and spinners! Nearshore brought back some Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish and turned around to go out on their PM trips. Out of 25 offshore boats we had 22 go out this morning... We will keep you posted via Twitter/Facebook when we see the first boat coming in so you can COME SEE US!!! :) Have a great day!
Call us all day until 7pm at 252.441.6301 and get on the water!!!!
This report makes me want to make two, just so I can put all of my pictures up. Today was a HOT ONE! If you aren't booking your trips yet you really should try to get your friends together and make it happen. When you're out there fishing, its like nothing else in the world matters! Today was another beautiful day for our fleet. Nearshore picked up some gorgeous Triggerfish catches and said that they caught the cobia's, but a lot of them were throwbacks. Inshore caught some sharks on spinning reels and on the fly. They also got into the Speckle Trout and Puppy Drums just about as good as it gets. We did have a couple Cobia's brought in that were nice ones too but they didn't get them weighed. Offshore our guys came in with all kinds of different things. There were 4 Bigeyes, 2 Sailfish, and a Blue Marlin. We had limits of baffer dolphin (Gaffer+Bailer=Baffer) all over the place and the Yellowfin Tuna's were too. Wahoo's showed up in the mix and made some Meat Slams for some folks so all in all we had a great variety of fish brought home! We have trips available tomorrow that you can still book Inshore and Nearshore. You can book them half day or All day and Offshore we have Make-up trips being put together all day every day if you can't book the full trip for all day. Give us a call and we can help you figure out what's best for you. If you can book online that is also an option. We are open from 5AM to 7PM every day so don't hesitate to make the best of your vacations with us! Call 252.441.6301
If you weren't out fishing today, all I have to say is WHY NOT??? Just about half of the Offshore Fleet went out to the deep water this morning and returned with a bunch of FISH! The Gaffer Baffers lined up in their glorious rows down the dock and we still had some nice yellowfin tunas brought home too. There were a couple Citations today, one being a Blue Marlin release and a 35LB Gaffer dolphin. There continue to be lots of pilot whales and sharks out there, so the ocean is still plenty full of life. Give yourself a present and get off land for a little while! We have some Inshore and Nearshore trips that are tons of fun too if you can grab a spot. Our Inshore had some speckled trout, puppy drum and Flounder and Nearshore got their Spanish Mackerels, plus we even had some Cobia's brought home this afternoon! One group came in with 5! The fishing is always fun in the summer so while you're down here enjoying your vacation, don't forget we have the perfect fishing trip for each person in your entire family! Give us a call at 252.441.6301 or browse and book on-line! Your adventure is just a call or click away! Look for updates tomorrow on Facebook and Twitter @FISHOIFC. See you at the dock!!!
What a gorgeous but choppy day out on the water! There were 6-8 footers in the gulfstream for most of the morning. 13 boats made it yesterday and 4 Inshore boats went on All day trips. They came back with Cobia, Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum, and a mess of Triggerfish! Since it was going to be a good day to ride out, I decided to get a fishing report from the boat instead. The morning was so pretty and the water looked calm riding out. It was a little choppy but once we set out we instantly had a Blue Marlin crash our left long rigger on a tuna bait. When he hit it was game on from there!!! What was even more exciting was that we had an engagement happening on the Skiligal at the same time the Blue one was caught! One of our old booking desk girls, and friends Jenny and her boyfriend Snapper were out fishing beside us and as soon as they set out, he pulled out the ring box!!! It was pretty exciting to start the morning out with a Blue Marlin and a Ring!!! Congratulations!!!! We are all so happy for you and excited that we got to share that with you two!!!
After that we trolled around the rest of the morning trying to grab a tuna or a dolphin and ended up catching one of each. Some of the other guys were slowly picking at the tunas and doing pretty well for the conditions. There were some Bigeyes caught and we even saw one boat hook up twice! There was life everywhere! Pilot Whales were right beside all the boats in the fleet. There were some nice fish caught, 2 Bigeye Tuna citations of 182 and 156 LBS! We also had a 46 LB dolphin and a 45 LB Cobia brought in. We've got 13 boats fishing again today so hopefully they will get 'em!!! There are some Nearshore and Inshore trips fishing today too, if you want to book a fun trip with the family or some friends, it would be a great time to get out and enjoy the weekend. We have PM trips available today and there are Make-up trips available all week. We can put you together with 5 other people or match your groups together perfectly so you can get the chance to crank in your own fish story. Give us a call from now (5am) up until 7pm this evening and we will rig you up! 252.441.6301 or book your trips online!!! Have a great Sunday everyone!!!
Hope everyone had a great Sunday! It was a pretty day. We always enjoy seeing some of the things that one small day can bring, we had 13 boats hit the stream today! Nearshore got some awesome triggers today too!!! (Triggerfish that is!) The boats offshore either went Billfishing or Tuna fishing, Some got it good, some just had fun anyways! There were a couple bigeyes caught today though!!! Wooo Hooo we love our Bigeyes! We had a 250 POUNDER today!!! If you want to get out there and hook up to a rocket ship too then get on the phone as early as 5AM and give us a holler!! We want to take you fishing all over this place and we have every type of boat to accommodate your fishing needs! Our Make-Up trips are something to think about if you don't think you can go because you might not have enough people. We had some guys go fishing together today on a Make-up trip and they had such a great time with each other that they may just come back and do it again! You just never know who you'll meet and the fun you might have! Its so cool when things like that come together and it makes you thankful for just getting that kind of opportunity. We can get you on a boat even if you only have one single person. It might not be immediate if you have odd numbers, but it will happen! The headboat is going to be awake bright and early to take the first trip out if you're a morning person! If you want to get out after lunch we can do that too! Just call us at 252.441.6301 and we will take care of it! Book online or just come see us tomorrow, we'd love to see you!!!
Getting here this morning the rain had already hit, but it seemed like the clouds broke apart just in time for us to get some pictures. There were great catches of Spanish Mackerels and a lot of fun people hanging out around the dock. There are still some boats out right now but one offshore boat did decide to come in with the 8 tunas they had caught. Kinda cool to see what the fish have been feeding on, there were some squids in the box when they were unloading them. Hope that the others are getting their fish, all we can do is wait and see. Depending on the rain we will try to get you some pictures of the other 11 offshore, and our 4 Inshore boats that went. Its still raining now. Hope you are enjoying a break from the sun today!!! Give us a call if you want to come hang out with us in the gulfstream, or around our beautiful Inlet. We would love to take you fishing!!! Call us on the local line at 252.441.6301 and we will hook you up. We have almost reached 3,000 likes on our Facebook page so if you haven't liked us yet, go and check us out and HIT LIKE!!! Hope you guys are enjoying this sunshine right now, its absolutely gorgeous looking out this window right now, the water is slick calm. Pictures don't do it justice. We had our Inshore/Nearshore came in with some Triggerfish and those pretty Spanish Mackerels this afternoon! Our other boys came in with their Yellowfin Tuna's, Dolphin, Wahoo. We released a couple billfish out there too. One Blue Marlin, One Whitey. Some got lucky today and didn't get hit by the shark attack out there and some got robbed of their tunas. Our mates have to be extra careful when the sharks start up that mess. As you saw in the early report today there were some squids getting spit up by the tunas so the feeding frenzy is on for sure. Nothing like seeing it for yourself out there! Don't worry about that storm either, Our Captains don't go unless its safe! Give us a call and get on one of our beautiful Carolina boats- we've got some spots available if you can grab a spot before they are gone. Please don't forget tomorrow is the last day to fish on the Miss Oregon Inlet until Monday since she doesn't go on Sundays! Call your favorite Fishing Center and get excited to go fishing! 252.441.6301 Check out our Facebook page and be the 3,333rd "Like" and we will get you a Free Oregon Inlet Fishing Center T- shirt!
