The wind was blowing too hard today for the offshore fleet to make it. The Inshore boats that were booked made their AM and PM trips and returned with another nice day of Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish and one boat brought in some Amberjacks. The fleet is booked pretty good for tomorrow, we will see what the weather let's us do. We hope you enjoy your evening and look forward to seeing you at the docks! Before we tell you the report we want to give one of our booking desk girls a big huge shout out "Happy Birthday Denise!!!" We hope you have a great day today!!! Thank you for all that you do!
This morning handed our Inshore fleet some excellent spreads of Spanish Mackerels, Bluefish, Speckled Trout, and Puppy Drum. The weather must have pushed offshore just enough for them to make it out and enjoy the day before the hot sun came out! Today most of the Offshore boats are getting their oil changed and catching up on their boat work. Tomorrow everyone is booked Offshore so we will see what happens then. Come down and see us at the ship store and pick up your Oregon Inlet Fishing Center T-shirts, we have hundreds to choose from and all different colors! Have you ever stood outside and felt the weather go completely crazy? That is what it was like today. It started out overcast, then changed to sunny, then the wind just decided to take off and start howling. Our Inshore crowd got to enjoy a calmer morning until it got a little closer to lunchtime and they had the wind pushing them home. A few of them picked up some beautiful Speckled Trout and even some puppy drum. There were a bunch of AM and PM trips that got their Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish catches in the bag too. The Nearshore guys brought home some pretty King Mackerels, and some Triggerfish. Our Headboat, The Miss Oregon Inlet, hung out on the bridge and scored their people some croaker dinners. Around lunchtime after all the Inshore boats had come in and gone back out on their second trips there were a handful of boats that came in early from offshore. The ones who came in early by choice reported the fish were still biting when they left and that it was pretty good tuna and gaffer fishing today. It was either a pile of dolphin or tuna or a mix of both on the dock behind each boat. We had a couple white marlin releases but no other citations turned in which is unusual. There was plenty of meat and the conditions for the day started out smooth and seemed to only get rougher. We hope that tomorrow is going to be a good day but we will soon find out who's fishing and who's going out to breakfast! The wind has already fell out a little but the morning will clarify it all. Call us to get in on a trip next week before your day is no longer available. We have lots of people lining their dates up! Dial 1.800.272.5199 and get excited to come fishing with us!!! Keep up with the fishing on our Facebook "Like" page every day for updates and Follow us on Twitter @FISHOIFC!
Just wanted to do a little mini-report from the boats that were in before lunchtime. We had some nice big Spanish Mackerel's mixed in with our Bluefish catches today. One of our best local specials down here that you will find at the restaurants are the fishcakes! Yummy Yummy!! We had some more White Dotter Sharks caught and some Speckled Trout action too! It is a little windy out right now but the morning must have been beautiful! Our lovely Miss Oregon Inlet Crew caught a nice mix of Flounder, Gray Trout, Pigfish, and Pinfish this morning and are already out on their 2nd trip. There were a lot of happy people that came in and the boats are now going out on their PM trips so we will see what comes in next! One Offshore boat came in early with a husband and wife that just wanted to go catch something but didn't want to take any home, they caught some Tuna and Dolphin. Keep up with us on Twitter @FISHOIFC or on our Facebook "Like" page for more news. (The homepage will take you directly to it if you click the Facebook logo at the top left corner) We have some great boats available if you're looking to go fishing this week, grab them before they're gone! For the second report for today it is my pleasure to announce the fishing was on point. Our guys managed to bring in all kinds of different catches, some had more billfish, or more tuna or gaffers. We even had our last boat come in a little later because they were hooked up on a nice Bigeye Tuna! Overall everyone down here today got to see some great fishing at its finest. There were 5 Billfish releases; 3 Sailfish, a White Marlin and a Blue Marlin! Other citations consisted of an 80 LB Yellowfin and a 137 LB Bigeye Tuna! The Inshore crowd came in from their PM trips with some pretty catches of Bluefish and Spanish Mackerels again and we had a boat also bring in some Sheepshead and Triggerfish! The weekend looks like there are only a couple boats available but call us at the booking desk just to be sure. We have all types of boats to accommodate you're needs. Yesterday's fishing report was back on track. We had a lot more action and fish caught that were a little harder to find over the weekend. Most of our boats came home with limits of gaffer dolphin, some with limits of tuna, and there were multiple bigeye tunas and billfish caught as well. There were a few bigeyes up there at 200 lbs!! Inshore had some excellent Spanish mackerel fishing and some bluefish. Nearshore there were no strong signs of Cobia because of the water conditions but there was one captured. We had another eventful day down at the docks so be sure to come check us out and keep up with us on Facebook and Twitter @FISHOIFC to get in on the action and get a trip of your own! We have a few trips available this week offshore but they are all filling in much quicker than usual so don't wait too long to reserve your boat. There are make-up trips if you do not have enough people to go but if you have odd numbers again it is good to get on the list as soon as possible. Our Nearshore and Inshore boats are taking AM and PM trips if you just want a half day of fishing or you can book the boat for a full day. Call us at 1.800.272.5199 and get in on some summer fishing action with us!!! Don't forget to 'Like' us on Facebook to see all the pictures of this afternoon, you may even be in them! Have a great day!!!
This morning was a gorgeous morning to be out on the water! Our Inshore crowd said they were absolutely enjoying themselves right outside the inlet today! Our boats brought back some nice Spanish Mackerel catches with a couple Bluefish mixed in, one also picked themselves up a 66 LB Cobia! Also we had some Nearshore action with an AM a pretty catch of White Dotter Sharks, and a man and his wife caught the mess out of the Triggerfish!!! To all you fishermen out there ALWAYS take your wife fishing!!! The Gulfstream action brought home was some great big Gaffers along-side our Bigeye Tuna's, Wahoo's and Yellow Fin Tunas! The Citation of the day for the Gaffer Dolphin was a whopping 60 LB's!!!! Ladies and Gentlemen that is a BIG dolphin! We had our Bigeyes come in also one weighing 225 and 120 Lb's and one other unreported on its weight was caught as well. We had a pair of Blue Marlin releases and their citations say one was 400 LBS and the other weighing 650 LBS! The fishing has taken a slight change but our fleet knows exactly where to find them still. We have a lot of people filling in the their spots so if you are looking for that half day or full day make sure you take advantage of it now whether it be Inshore, Offshore or Nearshore! The Miss O.I. is taking her AM and PM trips out too and they have been having a lot of fun out there. We are fueled up and ready to roll, get on board and let us take you out fishing! We even have fly fishing trips available, just specify what you are looking for to our booking desk girls by calling 1.800.272.5199 or book it yourself on the homepage! Today was another crazyyy day!! We had some celebrities fish with us today!! The TNA Wrestling guys Jeff Jarrett, Jeff Hardy, and Hermie Sadler!!! What a great group of guys, It was so nice to meet you and we all here at OIFC hope you had a great time fishing with us!!! There were so many different things caught today. We had a Grand Slam, a Bigeye, a limit of gaffers, multiple meat slams (wahoo, tuna, and dolphin) and then there were a couple groups who had a great catch of tunas! Hearing about the boat traffic again today explains why it was another tough day out there. Someone said they counted 53 boats fishing the same area. The full moon is also another factor that allows the fish to feed at night and can sometimes make it a little harder. Our guys all came home with happy people no matter the hard times there may have been. Everyone got plenty for dinner! The billfishing has been pretty good the last couple days, if that is your favorite thing to fish for you might want to think about going! Our inshore boats got some cobias, Spanish mackerels, triggerfish and amberjacks today. We have all types of trips available this week so make sure you book immediately. The headboat is going out tomorrow call us to see what tickets we have left. Call 1.800.272.5199 or book online, also follow us on Twitter @FISHOIFC and 'Like' us on Facebook to see tons more pictures and more of our TNA Wrestling guys!!
Today was check out day on the Outer Banks, and Check-in day for the weekend fishermen. There were no parking places available at the boat ramp and every offshore boat was gone. Our Inshore boats were back and forth with their AM and PM trips, and they said it was an absolutely gorgeous day on the water today. It was kind of a strange day. There was rain in the morning and the water was still a little choppy, but then it evened itself right out and the sun came out and the water stood still inland. Today was much more of a challenge for our gulfstream guys because the boat population was doubled, if not tripled out there. The AM and PM trips for inshore returned today with some pretty catches of Spanish Mackerels, a couple Bluefish, some Cobias!, and a nearshore boat got a healthy catch of 32 Triggerfish, a few Black Sea bass and even a gaffer! Our Offshore fleet came home today at the normal times with some meat slams, (tuna, wahoo, gaffer dolphin) and a couple billfish releases. There were only Wahoo citations turned in today for a 45, 46, and a 47 lb fish! Two of which were caught by one cute lady angler! They were bigger than she was!! The headboat went out this morning and had tons of action it sounded like, some flounder, sea mullet, croakers, a little mixed assortment of fish. They are not fishing on Sunday but if you can get on the boat next week you should try it out and bring the kids! Captain Jerry and his loyal crew are ready to go 6 days a week so reserve your tickets online today! Inshore AM and PM trips are available and don't forget our Nearshore trips that go a little further out than the beach. It would be a great half day or full day adventure for the right group of folks. Offshore boats are steadily filling in their books so if you want a date you need to call in now and put down your deposit! Once they are booked up there are not as many chances to get what you want! Call or click today! 1.800.272.5199 or 252.441.6301
It is officially SUMMER!!!!! YAY!!! Going fishing today was a great way to celebrate the day!!! It was kind of a crazy report! We had some excellent Spanish mackerel fishing on the AM and PM trips along with some nice bottom fishing on a couple of our boats, including the Miss O.I.! There were some speckled trout and flounder caught and some really nice sea mullets! Sea mullet have been a local favorite around here for a very long time and when you hook up to a big one it is pretty exciting!! Its nice to hear that they were out there today! We had our Offshore boats come in at all times it seemed like, some were out there fighting their monster Big Eye Tunas that we all got to enjoy seeing! The Citations for those were 217, 207, 186, 166, and 166 pounds!!! That alone is 942 pounds of fish!! We can't leave out the 45 lb Wahoo and there were also 3 Blue Marlin, 2 White Marlin, and one Sailfish released today! A lot of big fish were churned up out there! The gaffers were, as always, a gorgeous sight all laid out on the docks this afternoon. I think the most gaffers caught on one boat was 45. The tunas were still all mixed in every catch but some got their limit and some got a mix. It was a hot summer day around here and it only gets us that more excited for the summer months ahead of us! If you are ready to go fishing please do not wait too long to put down your deposit, the days fill in faster than you think they would and there have been a lot of people around waiting for their turn to go. Give us a call toll free at 1.800.272.5199 or locally at 1.252.441.6301 and let us get you on a boat and have some fun!!! The headboat is another great way to go fishing and especially if you are looking to take the entire family. You can pick up your tickets at our booking desk 7 days a week or reserve them for the week of your vacation anytime online. Look for our updates via Facebook & Twitter @FISHOIFC See you at the dock!
So it sounds like today was a little tougher than the last couple days. The cooler temps make it a little tougher on the inshore bite for trolling but it didn't stop the trout or puppy drum, and we still had a couple Spanish mackerels and bluefish. The headboat went out on both trips and on the AM trip ended up catching some flounder and PM trip there was a little bit of everything caught it sounded like (croakers, pigfish, flounder, sea mullet). Today the Offshore fleet said it was a little harder to come by. There were boats back as early as 12:30 but the bite must have been a little more scattered. We still had a 40 lb Wahoo caught and 4 more Bigeyes brought in! Our Citations for those are 191, 162, 144, and 132 lbs! There was also another 3 White Marlin and 1 Blue Marlin released today! It was a lot of action for the conditions we had today and we are all anticipating what Friday will bring us! Take a look at our Facebook 'Like' page for more detailed pictures and updates so we can get you up to date with the latest news! You guys are doing a great job by booking these trips right now, a round of applause goes out to you! We can't tell you enough that you should go fishing right now! This fishing is really something. I am so excited every day to see what time the boats are coming in, and what in the world you guys have caught! Today the Inshore guys got some gorgeous Spanish Mackerels and Bluefish, Speckled Trout and Puppy Drum, and a few other interesting fishies! The kids were so excited to pose for their pictures today! It really makes it fun to see them light up when they get to show us what they caught. The Offshore boats came in early again today and the first boat was here before some of us even got to work! There were limits of Yellowfin, and some HUGE Bigeyes caught today!!! I will list off the Citations we received... 197, 174, 163, and 141 pounders!!! That's 4 huge fish plus there were 2 Blue Marlin releases! Its pretty neat to hear about the Blue Marlins feeding on these Tunas! There is a correction that needs to be made for yesterday, Along with the 132 lb Bigeye caught there was also a 180 lb Bigeye brought in! So that makes 2 yesterday and 4 today! We can only wonder what tomorrow is going to bring us! As of right now we only have trips available on Sunday for offshore so if you are trying to get out to the gulfstream next week, do not delay! We are also filling in a lot of inshore boats for the pretty weather this weekend so grab your spots! Some boats came in early inside the rain today with limits of Yellowfin Tuna, others are coming in with their limits AND the sunshine!!! Although most of them didn't fish in the rain, sometimes you just have to get wet in order to have a good day of fishing! This morning our inshore guys had some fun catching dozens of spinner sharks and black tips and hoping to find a Cobia. All I have really heard with the Cobia's is that it is pretty much shut down because of the weather. Now give it a couple pretty sunshiny days and maybe it will pick back up! There were some Spanish Mackerel's and Bluefish brought home from the AM trips this afternoon and we even had a pair of trout come in! The offshore boats keep pouring in with their limits of tuna and some gaffer dolphin! We had a monster BigEye Tuna caught weighing 132 pounds!!! Also the billfish flags were flying again! A 400lb Blue Marlin a 200lb Blue Marlin, and a few Sailfish too! There were tons of people enjoying themselves down here and checking out the fish Have a great day and don't forget to call us to book your trips or just book it right online. We are still in the meat! If you don't have enough people to go then get on a Make- up trip or half-day inshore/nearshore trip! We have all types of fishing trips to choose from and you don't want to go home without a fish story!
