Saturday's fishing report was a little hard to give since we had 10 boats go Offshore and 2 AM trips for Inshore/Nearshore. Out of the 10 boats we had 21 Billfish releases though!!! A nice average! The high boat had 6 White Marlin and 2 Sails and we also had a boat release a GRAND SLAM!!! That would be the 4th Grand Slam for the season! We still got some Yellowfin Tunas and Dolphins. There were 3 limits of Dolphin and 1 thick catch of Tunas! George, the mate on the Seabreeze, told me that they were bailing dolphin and had a Blue Marlin plow through the middle of them to grab a little lunch! That would have been a killer sight to see! There were a couple tunas that also got a tail knocked off by a shark.
Saturdays fishing really made us think that Sunday was going to be great, The Alice Kelly Ladies Tournament was on Sunday. There were 59 boats entered in the tournament and 19 of them were ours. Everyone left a little late Sunday morning around 6, the rules say that every boat cannot put their lines in the water until 9AM (and lines out at 3PM). The water was slick calm out there just like glass, it couldn't have been better. The conditions looked like we were going to have some great fishing too. We ended up with 4 Sailfish 8 White Marlin and 2 Blue Marlin out of our fleet. The First place boat from was the Sniper from Virginia Beach, VA with 1 Blue Marlin and 3 White Marlin. Second place was our very own Bi-Op-Sea with 2 White Marlins and 1 Sailfish! Our other two boats got trophy's also: The Rigged Up for the biggest Wahoo weighing 36 Lbs and The Skiligal won the Dolphin Calcutta of $6,800.00 with a 36 Lb Dolphin!!! Pretty work you guys! We are so proud of you!!! Congratulations to everyone who did well in the tournament!!!
Monday was a turn around, we had 36 White Marlin A Blue Marlin, 4 Wahoo, and a 29 and 36 Lb Dolphin caught! The Blackfin tunas really showed up also. We are all assuming the wild lightning and rain storms we had must have washed us out on Sunday because fishing picked right back up after one day. We hope that this week is going to be completely insane fishing for our boats who are entered in the Pirates Cove Big Game Tournament that starts today (Tueday)! Tuesday through Friday we should be seeing some major fishing reports. Don't forget that we have boats that are not fishing in this tournament that are available for you!!! There are no good reasons why you shouldn't take this opportunity to go fishing right now. The weather is clear and this is really something you don't want to miss. Our high boat had 8 White Marlins today!!! If Offshore isn't your thing, We have Inshore and Nearshore-
Half Day and Full Day trips. They have some great fishing going on too. This is the time you want to go catch some of the Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum and even a Flounder or two. We have Fly Fishing boats that are catching the same things and also having some Spinner Shark and Cobia action on Fly and Spinning reels. We had 6 Cobia's caught on Sunday and also a couple nice fish boxes full of Triggerfish Nearshore. Take the kids fishing right off the beach to catch our Bluefish and Spanish, or even some White Dotter Sharks! They will absolutely love it! Our pictures are still giving us a hard time right now so please know that you can always check them out on our Facebook "Like" Page. Look for the Facebook logo on our Home page in the top left corner and click on it. Today we will update you with everything you need to know that is happening down at OIFC via Facebook and Twitter. Don't wait to book a trip this week, they will not last! Call 252 441.6301 and get in on the action or you will be kicking yourself later! Have a great day and stay tuned for more!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE FISHING IN THE TOURNAMENT!!!!!! DAY ONE BRING IT ON!!!!
Today it was a great SHARK WEEK day for the Inshore/Nearshore fleet! We had some good Spinner Shark releases and White Dotter Shark fishing!!! White dotters are great to eat and a lot of fun to catch! There was a Citation turned in for a 4 LB Black Sea Bass!!! It looked like a Largemouth Bass it was that big. So cool!!! We had some Triggerfish, a Gray Trout, a Ribbonfish, some Croakers, Sea Mullet, and Spanish Mackerels brought in too! Our Speckled Trout fishing is really heating up! The people had a great time catching those, lots of action! We had 4 Cobia's come in that weighed up to 40 Lbs! Get on board with our Inshore/Nearshore fleet before the summer is over! We have a few trips available this weekend, call us today at 252.441.6301 and go enjoy one of these beautiful days out on the water!!! Check out our Facebook and Twitter for updates this afternoon!
Okay Folks if you are wondering why you cannot see any pictures it is NOT your computer! Our website is down right now. We should be back up tomorrow!
Just because the pictures are down doesn't mean I cannot tell you about the fishing luckily! We had 14 Offshore boats go out this morning, and they all came home with a great day!
We had a Grand Slam caught today!!! Another boat almost got one but didn't quite get the last fish that was a sail. Out of all of the billfish released today we added these to our Billfish Board: 16 Sailfish, 19 White Marlin, and 2 Blue Marlin!!! That is 37 Billfish releases not including the ones hooked. With only 14 boats, those fish alone made today a great one!
Other fish caught were 4 limits of dolphin, and 6 Wahoo. Our Inshore report was put up before this one if you haven't already seen it. There were 2 boats that went on PM trips this afternoon but I didn't catch what they had. So lets just make this short and sweet, YOU SHOULD GO FISHING RIGHT NOW. 252.441.6301!!!!! or BOOK ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to see some pictures go to our Facebook "Like" page and check us out!!!!! We can't wait to see you tomorrow!!! Happy Billfishing to those going tomorrow!!!
Offshore has really flowed right into August with a BANG!!! Our HUGE NEWS OF THE DAY goes directly to our very own TAYLOR COLLINS, Captain Lee Collins' daughter who runs the Strike 'Em! Taylor is FIVE YEARS OLD and caught a GRAND SLAM today!!!!!! This is completely unheard of and Taylors Dad even video taped her catching them! This was a huge thing to see for such a little tiny girl crank in a Blue Marlin, a Sailfish, and 2 White Marlins!!! A grand slam is a Blue, a White, and a Sail all caught on the same day! We are SO PROUD of you Taylor, you just made Grand Slam History!!! Check her out on our Facebook page, we will try to have her video's up there tomorrow!
We had another Bigeye Tuna weighed at the fish house this afternoon! They have been incredible this year, July received 59 Citations for Bigeyes alone and August is still providing us with a couple here and there! This Bigeye that was caught today weighed 179 lbs!!! Another stud!! That's over 100lbs of meat for one fish!!! There were more Blackfins caught today but there were still Yellowfins mixed in. A few dolphin were lined up but it was more of a tuna day really. Our most wonderful time of the year is finally starting. This Billfishing season has flowed right in and it is right on time for our Tournaments coming up next week! Our top boat for the billfishing today had 7 WHITE MARLIN and 3 SAILFISH!!! That's 10 releases!!! Way to go Captain Jesse and Chris!!! Also a round of applause for their anglers! Its a team effort on everyone and a good angler is the key to getting another release! As of today 'The Billfish Tally Board' has been created for August! It should be interesting what it reads at the end of the month! The board has all of our tally's for Blue and White Marlin and Sailfish releases! They are already high for the 8th day of the month and today they grew some more! This picture of the board is from yesterday but we will keep updating you with those results. Also on Facebook you will see more and more cool things like this so keep up with us!!!
This gorgeous Thursday we had today also provided our half day Inshore and Nearshore trips with some nice catches! We had Bluefish, a couple Spanish, a bunch of Triggerfish, bags of Speckled Trout Puppy Drum, and our good 'ol White Dotter Sharks! Which are super tasty! Our fly fishing boats also had great action with the Blacktip and Spinner Sharks and also the Speckled Trout! Fly fishing for Sharks must be insanely fun. I know how much fun they are to catch with a spinning rod so I can only imagine! The Speckled Trout catches were absolutely beautiful today. Their colors are so bold and defined even after you bring them home to the dock. You have to really get out there and experience trout fishing to be able to appreciate everything about them. We have trips available but the Inshore/Nearshore boats have been filling up by the end of each day so please act quickly!
Make-up trips are the same, if you want to go Offshore but do not have enough friends to get up at 4am with. Do yourself a favor and get on a Make-up, its 292$ per person plus tip for your mate. Mates work for tips just like in the restaurant. Our Offshore boats are booking up too Call us tomorrow at 252.441.6301 and get a rod in your hand!!! Good night!!!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY ROD HOLDERS!!! Hope you are doing just that right now! We had a nice show of fish come in this morning! If you are ever down here before 11:30 and want to see the Inshore fleet come in, you can usually watch them come in through "the Crack" all lined up in a row. (The Crack is our short-cut channel that allows us to get to and from the bridge/inlet)
Our report for Nearshore was some really nice sized Triggerfish, and buckets of Bluefish! There were a couple Spanish Mackerels thrown in the piles but the majority were Blues.
Inshore rocked the Speckle Trouts again! Some caught Speckles and Sharks and we even had the cutest 4 year old sack up his parents with a Cobia bigger than him! He caught 2 today! Way to go little man!!! The best thing about fishing is that there is NO AGE LIMIT! :)
Our boats are still booking trips for the rest of the week if you are ready to roll! Tomorrow we only have one afternoon trip open as of right now for a PM Nearshore trip.
Offshore we only have 12 boats open tomorrow. Catch our boats come in this afternoon by following us on Twitter and Facebook. We will let you know when the boats start coming in! Its a GORGEOUS day and its going to be just like this tomorrow! Book your trips today!!! We want to talk to YOU 252.441.6301!!!!
If you love FLYING FLAGS then book a trip right now! Today there were 10 White Marlin Flags, and 10 Sailfish Flags! One 300 LB Blue Marlin was caught but the dude holding the rod was 11. Haha yeah that's right ELEVEN! The kids really made us proud today! First it was a 4 year old that caught 2 Cobias, one bigger than him. Then it was this big guy who wrestled a 300 pound Blue Marlin!!! And even one of our Captains had his 5 year old daughter catch her first dolphin!!! Go Taylor!!! Kids are so awesome!!!!
The tuna fishing is still kickin'! We had a Citation 20 lb Blackfin reeled in, and a 35 lb Dolphin!!! Dolphin fishing was the highlighter of the dock and the Tunas were the perfect blend of meat thrown in. We had 2 Wahoo's but that's probably because there were so many dolphins. When you're bailing dolphin you do a different type of fishing, you can troll or you can stop and chum them up. If you find something floating you usually just stop and get your dolphin rods out and throw chunks bloodline around your lines. When you're trolling it is more likely to grab your wahoo's since they are faster swimmers.
We had almost all of our boats fish today so our fish cleaners have been rockin' it! Hopefully you are getting ready to go fishing with us this week or you are about to grub down on some fish taco's! Get yourself and your families in on this action right now so that you can experience our summer fishing for yourself! Summer is going to be gone in a blink of an eye so do not wait! We have absolutely NO BOATS available for tomorrow!! 22 Offshore boats, 14 Half-day Inshore trips. 10 Inshore trips and some are booked out. Even our Headboat the Miss Oregon Inlet is full!
So, about Friday..... :)
CALL US us in the manana!!! Have a good night everyone!!! We are open again at 5AM call 252.441.6301 for Friday, Sat, Sunday, or next weeks trips! See you soon!!!
Man today was absolutely gorgeous!!! I hope you guys were able to enjoy it! The water was slick calm all day, the heat wasn't humid, and we had a nice breeze off the sound blowing on us all afternoon! Not to mention the fishing was GREAT!!! Almost every boat went fishing today!!! My chart looks almost completely filled in with fish reports! Today we had 10 Sailfish, 5 White Marlin and a 350Lb Blue Marlin! SWEET!!!!!!!!!
Limits of Dolphin were laid up everywhere, and a mix of Yellowfin and Blackfin Tunas too! A nice show of Wahoo today also!!! 7 Wahoo's total. Supposedly some of our boats got surprised by the Amberjacks! We had so many meat slams it was ridiculous. The Amberjack count was roughly 19 fish! There were plenty of things to take home for dinner Offshore and Inshore!
Our Nearshore Gang got on the Bluefish pretty well today, and some had a couple White Dotter Sharks. Triggerfish are still biting, and there are some people who probably just got finished eating them right now. Yum! The BEST!! Inshore had some good action with the Speckled Trout, Puppy Drum, some flounder, Cobia and even an Amberjack! There was a killer Trout catch this morning, It made me want to throw my clipboard in the creek and charter my own boat! You need to seriously get jacked up if you aren't already! This summer is way too close to being over and we still have days open. We can't be wasting perfectly good days of fishing now people! Get on board with us you will never regret it!!!! Call our booking desk girls and bug them (in a good way) as early as 5AM to get yourself on the road to the Fishing Center and watching the sunrise from the water! Book online too since we aren't open right now :) Have a nice night!!!!! 252.441.6301
Monday was the first day of the 40th Annual White Marlin Open Tournament in Ocean City, Maryland! We want to wish our all of our Carolina boats some Good Luck!!! TIGHT LINES, some 70+ lb Whiteys!!! We hope you ALL win!!! We have 3 of our own boats up there fishing, The Sea Note, The Trophy Hunter, and The Outer Limits. We also have 2 of our Captains fishing on other boats Captain Jason Snead and Captain Dave Peck. And 2 of our Mates Joey Belton and Jason Sadler! So, GET 'EM BOYS!! We are rooting for you!!! Be safe and have fun!!!
Tournament season is in full effect now so it couldn't be better timing for the White Marlin, Sailfish and Blue Marlin to be showing up at our front door! It looks like our billfishing season has officially started! We have the Pirate's Cove Alice Kelly Ladies Tournament this Sunday August 11th! If you want to go have some fun this weekend with the rest of us, WE STILL HAVE BOATS AVAILABLE LADIES! Call us ASAP you DON'T want to miss it!!!
We had 10 White Marlin, 5 Sailfish and 1 Blue Marlin caught Monday offshore... One boat had 4 and a lot of them lost a few more than they even caught! If that doesn't get you pumped up then I don't know what will. The Tuna's were lining up also, Blackfin and Yellowfin. Blackfins have no limit, Yellowfins are 3 per person. There were a good amount of dolphin and we even saw a limit of Yellowfin Tunas in there!
Nearshore was picking right along with some buckets of bluefish and also had some Trigger- Happy folks. Triggerfish that is :) Our Inshore guys are the Trout kings around here so if you enjoy light tackle they are a blast to go out with! Get on any one of our boats and you are sure to have a memory to take home that isn't in the form of a hermit crab. We are constantly getting booked and now that we are moving on to August, please remember to grab your trip before its unavailable!!! Also don't forget about our Make-up trips that we offer at 292$ per person!
There are plenty of people that need a fishing buddy like you to join them! Give us a call as soon as you can, we are open 'til 7! 252.441.6301
Good Evening everybody! It looks like the Tuna's are still crashin' baits! There were 13 boats booked to go offshore today. The average boat had a nice handful of those big buff 30-60 pounders. 3 White Marlin, 3 Blue Marlin, and 2 Sailfish were released! Some pretty impressive fish in the pictures! We even had the pleasure of seeing another Bigeye Tuna come in!!! This one was another 200Lb fish, weighing in at 207 Lbs!!! We love our Bigeyes! Weird report of the day was from one of our Captains who captured a rare sight with his camera seeing a Swordfish coming out to play on top. Swordfish aren't usually daytime fish, they'd much rather be in the dark! Seeing one with the lights on is definitely a nice surprise! Too bad he wouldn't eat anything. Maybe he was sleep walking! Ha! Ha! Our Inshore and Nearshore boats fished a couple trips today and reported some Flounders, Speckled Trout and Cobia's! It was a beautiful sunny day to be out on the boat! If you are daydreaming about it right now then do yourself a favor and book a fun fishing trip with your friends on any one of our Inshore, Nearshore, or Offshore boats! Spaces are becoming limited every day so hear me out! DO NOT DELAY! Our "Make-Up" trips are constantly being put together as well for $292 per person if you do not have 6 friends to fish with. Let us introduce you to 5 NEW friends that want to have a good time just like you! Our aim is to give you an experience of a lifetime and have a fun fishing trip that you'll never forget. Get on board with your favorite fleet! 252.441.6301 We are bright eyed and bushy tailed every morning at 5AM and will pick up the phone all the way until 7PM to get you hooked up! Enjoy your Sunday night and we will see you behind the boat!
Wow AGAIN! The first boat to back up into the marina from the gulfstream threw out 508Lbs of Yellowfin Tunas. 9 Fish! They filled out a few Citations also! The biggest Yellowfin caught today was a WHOPPING 96 POUNDS!!! Yes, it was awesome! There were also a 78 and a 76 LB Yellowfin citation turned in! Another WHOPPING fish that we saw was a 260 Lb Bigeye! If you haven't seen it yet, there is a video of it being pulled out of the fishbox on our Facebook "Like" page so check it out! That was not the only Bigeye caught either, we also had another one that weighed 201 Lbs! Huge! If you got a hold of the tunas today you are taking home a lot of meat this afternoon. These fish were all between 30 and 96Lbs today. Unreal! Hey August, Thank You! We had some Billfsih releases out there including 2 White Marlin and 2 Sailfish! Only a couple Gaffer Dolphin and Wahoo this time but they were good looking fish. We have a boat that is still trying to get in with their limit of Dolphin right now but other than that it was more of a Tuna day. We had 16 boats fish Offshore today and so far have 13 fishing tomorrow if you still want to go! If you cannot get in touch with us here at the Fishing Center then feel free to contact your Captain on the boat of choice before it gets too late. Our Inshore/Nearshore boats are also fishing tomorrow, we have 4 AM trips available and 5 PM left as of right now. Today they had some great Bluefish catches, a couple Amberjacks, Triggers, 5 Cobias, some Speckled Trout and also some great Blacktip Shark fishing! The Miss Oregon Inlet is not fishing tomorrow because of mechanical issues or Sunday. They will be up and running hopefully by Monday so call ahead! Here's the number you need to memorize 252.441.6301 and call whenever you want to go fishing! We'll be right here! Enjoy your Saturday Night!!!
This morning our Inshore boats caught the Speckle Trout and had some Cobia on the fly. It sounded like a really great time! We also had Bluefish and a few Spanish Mackerels and Triggerfish Nearshore. It was a gorgeous day to be hanging out around our Inlet that's for sure!
Offshore got a taste of the Billfish and Yellowfin Tuna's this afternoon! We had a couple Wahoo and 12 Billfish releases out of 15 boats!!! Each boat caught something different: One had 3 Blue Marlins, one had 2 Sailfish, one had 5 White Marlin, and another saw 4 and caught 2 Blue Marlin (300Lbs and 400Lbs!). LOTS of MARLIN ACTION! We will take it! If you want to get on a boat we have the perfect one waiting for you! Just call us anytime before 7PM or after 5AM at 252.441.6301 and we will HOOK YOU UP! We are looking forward to tomorrow, don't hesitate to get on a Make-Up trip or on one of our Half/Whole Day Inshore/Nearshore boats. The Headboat is going out every day other than Sunday so if you want to go this weekend, then tomorrow is your day to go! Tickets sell out fast so don't wait!
See you at the docks tomorrow, Have a nice night!
Sooo, today was a little slower. But remember our slow days are still pretty great days. We had some Mackerel's Nearshore this morning but not as many as we have been having. It could be the rain chased them away but we won't know until tomorrow. There were still enough caught for dinner. We still had 3 Red Drum release citations turned in though! Also a very pretty catch of Triggerfish. Offshore we had our first boat come in with a 133Lb Bigeye Tuna but that was the only one caught this time. The rest of the fleet out of 12 boats that went, had a couple nice meaty 50- 60Lb Yellowfins. The Blackfin Tuna's made their debut on this lovely first day of August. The big Gaffer Dolphin's and Wahoo's were mixed in there along with a very close but not exactly limit of dolphin. A limit of Tilefish came in too. Tomorrow morning we have no AM Inshore or Nearshore trips available but when I just looked there were a couple afternoon trips still open. If you want to get Offshore before the week is over, we have a couple spots available and a nice list of people waiting for their Make-Up trips to come together. Make-Ups are for people who want to pay per person or do not have 6 friends who like to fish. So come on and book a Make-Up and make some friends so you can have someone to go fishing with next time! We are all looking forward to tomorrow and ready to get back on our game. Call us anytime before 7PM or just book your perfect trip right here online. 252.441.6301
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!
The Spanish Mackerel fishing was SO COOL today! Our boats brought in lots of shiny silver, and yellow polka dotted fish this morning! Spanish are so pretty! We saw 5 huge fish too, two Citations were filled out for a 6 lb 2oz and 6 lb 7oz fish!!! That is huge!
The Red Drum fishing right outside is really kickin' butt right now also. Our Inshore and Nearshore fleet caught and released an average of 15 fish this morning. If you haven't experienced it, you might want to try! Its so much fun! There was another boat that went Speckled Trout fishing and came in with a nice bucket of fish and even had a Flounder at the bottom. The Miss O.I. is steady pickin' along at the fish right now. They are back out on the second trip right now. Call us if you want to get out on a half or whole day fishing trip. We have every type of fishing you are looking for so just ask one of our sweet booking desk girls! Make-Up trips are being booked daily so be sure to let us know as soon as possible! Hope ya'll are having a fun day today! Updates to follow via Twitter and Facebook! Catch ya later!
This report is going to be a little different... We have a hundred dock pictures so since there are more action shots today, we're going to give you some ACTION! Facebook will have all of the rest for those of you that have joined our "Like" Page! Our Offshore brought in 4 Bigeyes, weighing 260, 229, 186, and 175 LBS! 260 is our biggest so far this year. We are still trying to dig up the biggest Bigeye record that Oregon Inlet has had so maybe we will have that for you tomorrow. Lots of Marlin and Sailfish were released: 3 White 3 Blue Marlin 2 Sailfish!!! The tuna fishing is pretty sweet right now. The fish are big ones. Its not quantity people! QUALITY! :) Those fish will tip the scales. We had some big dolphin also, and a 50 LB Wahoo!!! The Spanish Mackerel fishing was killer today and our Inshore/Nearshore fleet released a ton of Red Drum. There were a few really nice Speckled Trout and nice Triggerfish catches lined up too. Call us soon to book your charters, we have had a lot of people standing in line and calling to book! We have all types of trips available give us a ring at 441.6301 or do it right here online! Hope you are having a great night see you soon!
Every Nearshore and Inshore boat was out this morning enjoying their AM trips on the water! There were over 250 Spanish Mackerels caught today. The Bluefish were there but not as big this time. We still had over 20 Bluefish thrown in. The Speckled Trout fishing is still rockin as well, along with a couple Puppies. Puppy Drum are really just a smaller version of Red Drum and are just as tasty! Drum are such healthy, stocky looking fish. Full of color and very strong. Catching them on a spinner or a Fly is pretty exciting! We had 5 Red Drum releases in the Ocean today and 4 Cobias! Some of these Drum are over 40Lbs or more. You can also get a release Citation for them by filling out the form and turning it in to us. You then receive your citations in the mail when you get home. Some people put them in a binder because they have so many. The kids love them!!!
Our beautiful Headboat, The Miss Oregon Inlet, just left on her second trip for the day with the rest of the boats. She is catching lots of Croakers, Sea Mullets and even some Flounder. Our bottom fish in the sound are all very unique. We have Sea Robins (that actually have wings), Pigfish (that snort like a pig) or Porgies, Pinfish (that do nothing), Black Sea Bass (that are lost), Gray Trout (that are fun), Sting Rays (that sting, so be careful!), Skates (Stingrays ugly cousin), Sea Mullet (that are delicious), Bluefish (that bite), Croaker (that Croak) and Flounder (that are flat with 2 eyes on one side). There is no telling what you may find hit your bottom rig out there but that's what makes it so much fun! If you want to take the kids out on a boat that's practically made for them, we are selling tickets Mondays through Saturdays. Bring the whole family, or if you are looking for a more personal fishing trip catch one of our Inshore/Open Boat or Nearshore trips that can hold up to 6 folks. Offshore will be in this afternoon so look for our updates when we see the first boat coming in. We have some boats available this week and even if you only have 1 or 2 people we can put you together on a 'Make- Up' Trip with the other people signed up to go! Make-Ups are 292$ per person and allow you to get on the big boats by finding others like you that are ready to go! We book Make-up trips off of the dock all of the time so if you think you want to go just let us direct you to the booking desk to get signed up!
We hope you are enjoying your afternoon! Just think, It could be YOU out there fishing right now!!! See you at the dock!
