Wednesday was a "fin"onmenal day off-shore and near-shore for our anglers! Off-Shore anglers, some returning in before 12:30 p.m., enjoyed limits of yellow-fin tuna, good numbers of mahi, and some nice big-eye tuna, with weights over 100 lbs.
Near-shore anglers had some busy reels today. They enjoyed really good spanish mackerel fishing and some keeper king macs along with a few bluefish.
Anglers In-shore were on the hunt for cobia again today, with a few sightings but nothing much biting. There were some good spanish catches and a few flounder hook ups.
Fishing on the Miss Oregon Inlet Headboat was a bit slow today as anglers experienced several wind direction shifts on both trips. There were a few catches of sea mullet, trout, and spot.

Last Monday, the weather forecast was not favorable, but the actual conditions were gorgeous! Today, the forecast was favorable, but the actual conditions...not so much. But, off-shore anglers were ready to give it a go and ready to give it up less than a few hours in. A few yellow-fin and mahi were brought back to the docks and not at all the show we're famous for. Resilient, the captains are and try again, they will. Here's hoping for a better show tomorrow.

It is with heavy hearts, we bid farewell to fellow waterman, legendary boat builder, founder, and friend. Captain B.C. Buddy Cannady passed away this morning. Captain B.C. was a driving force in the growth of the Dare County Recreational Charter Fishing industry, bringing about the waterman's way of life for many here on the Outer Banks. Captain B.C. left deep marks on the boatbuilding industry here in Dare County and beyond, with boaters for many years to come benefiting from his influence.
Captain B.C. will be greatly missed and the Management and Crew of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center will remain ever grateful for his founding influences and extend our sympathies to his daughter, Melodye Cannady Callaway and his grandchildren, Buddy Callaway, Lillie Callaway Leavel, and great grandson, William Leavel. Captain B.C. also leaves behind many extended family members.
