Today our Offshore boats had great catches of Dolphin, as well as Good Yellowfin Tuna catches and scattered Wahoo catches.Our Offshore fleet also brought in some great Citations including two Citation sized Big Eye Tunas weighing in at 176 pounds and 140 pounds, as well as two Blue Marlin releases. Our Nearshore boats had Wonderful mixed bag of fish today with Trigger fish, Sea Bass, Spanish Mackerel and Tile fish. Citations on our Nearshore fleet included two Citation sized Cobia weighing in at 67 pounds and 47 pounds! Our Inshore fleet came back with Cobia and Sharks, and our Headboat the Miss Oregon Inlet came back with catches of croakers! It was a great day here at Oregon Inlet, and I am proud to share it with our readers!
Offshore boats had good catches of yellowfin tuna, gaffer size dolphin and several bigeye tunas. There were lots of fish on the screens indicating excellent fishing ahead. Bill Pucher from Cape Charles, Va. got a citation for his 143 pound bigeye tuna. Gregory Williams from Midlothian, Va. also got a citation for his 149 pound bigeye tuna. Inshore bottom fishing produced triggerfish, black sea bass, spanish mackerel and tilefish. Several good catches of tailor bluefish were made. Open boats caught several cobias. Very good spanish mackerel catches were made at one location and 12 pound bluefish were caught casting into them. Miss Oregon Inlet caught a variety of fish, bottom fishing in the sound
Our offshore fleet had a great day today. They all came in with their limits of yellowfin tuna, scattered dolphin and an 85lb. Big Eye tuna. Our nearshore boats pulled in tiles, sea bass, good bluefish and spanish mackerel. The inshore fleet caught trout, sharks and cobia.
This day started out quite nice with some specatcularly beautiful clouds. Beryl was due to arrive later on in the day permitting enough time to get some offshore fishing. The catches were all good but mixed between dolphin and yellowfin tuna. Three citation size bigeye tunas were caught.Kimberly Cook from Chilligothe, Ohio got a citation for her 142 pound bigeye, Scott Breidenbach from Pottstown, Pa got a citation for his 114 pound bigeye. A 172 pound bigeye was also caught. Nearshore one boat sailed and had good bluefish fishing. An open boat caught speckled trout. Beryl did pass by on schedule putting a lot of moisture in the ground.
CITATIONS...Congrats to Daniel Gibbons of Princeton, Wisconsin reeled in a 57 lb. WAHOO...Jim Breckenridge of Portsmouth, Virginia caught and released a BLUE MARLIN (total of 3 blue marlin released for the day). Other Off Shore charters returned with their LIMITS of DOLPHIN, boat loads of YELLOW FIN TUNA and several WAHOO. In Shore reports BIG BLUES, SHARK, COBIA...from the Near Shore half day fishermen, the take home was SPANISH MACKERAL, COBIA, TRIGGER. Offshore boats had a good day catching yellowfin tuna and gaffer size dolphin. In addition several citaions were recorded. James Dougherty from Kitty Hawk caught and released a 40 pound jack crevalle measuring 41 inches in length. That is a powerful fish I imagine Mr.Dougherty had an exciting time with it. Mr. Shane Francis from Kill Devil Hills caught a 81 pound cobia that measured 65 inches in length. That is a nice trophy. Mr. Brodie Beasley from Pittsboro, NC got a 150 pound bigeye tuna. Mr. Peter Dunklee From Yorktown, Va. landed a 55 pound wahoo another impressive fish reminds one of a torpedo. Mr. Sam Arnold from Fort Defiance, Va. got a 43 pound wahoo. Inshore boats caught tailor bluefish.
Today was, without a doubt, a fantastic day of fishing here at Oregon Inlet. There were twenty two boats that went offshore today and they returned with limits of yellowfin tuna and lots of dolphin including gaffer dolphin. There were two citation big eye tuna landed weighing 236 lbs. and 207 lbs., as well as wahoo and white marlin which were released. Nearshore trips had excellent catches of bluefish and spanish mackerel and an inshore trip caught a 55 lb. citation cobia, as well as spanish mackeral. Don't forget that tomorrow, 5/28/12, our headboat begins two trips a day. If you want to go in the morning come in at 6:30am to buy your tickets and come in at 11:30 to purchase tickets for the afternoon trip.

Another outstanding day at the Gulf Steam. So many wonderful catches that there was room on the website for just a few samples. Yellowfin tuna were dominate resulting in lots of filets to take home. Tailor bluefish provided inshore boats with plenty of action. Pound for pount bluefish are agressive fighters. Open boats had good speckled trout fishing in the sound. Two good size cobias were caught near shore in the ocean. Miss Oregon Inlet caught flounders, blowfish and pig fish. Blowfish beyond being an unusual fish is very good eating and easy to prepare.
We couldn't have hoped for a better day of fishing than we had today. We had twenty two offshore boats out and they came in with limits of yellowfin tuna, great dolphin catches and also some wahoo, one was a 48 lb. citation. Our nearshore boats had massive catches of bluefish and also spanish mackerel and released black sea bass. Inshore boats had excellent speckled trout and cobia.
Another outstanding day fishing at the Gulf Stream. Lots of good size yellowfin tunas. At the weigh in the tunas averaged over 40 pounds a peice. There were also some very nice dolphin catches. Most of the dolphin were in the gaffer size category. Inshore boats had very good catches of spanish mackerel and tailor bluefish. Good catches of bluefish and speckled trout were made by open boats in the sound. There are bluefish running around three pounds found at particular locations in the sound otherwise thewy run around a pound and a half. Richard Wong from Kensington, Md. got a citation for the 54 pound cobia he caught. Michael McCluskey got a citaion for his cobia that weighed 70 pounds. This is an impressive fish it was 56 inches in length and 31 inches in girth. The fishing right now is hard to beat at any time anywhere.

Outstanding offshore fishing.Lots of good size yellowfin tunas and gaffer size dolphins. Several boats caught wahoos, one weighed in at 48 pounds. An impressive big eye tuna was landed it weighed 125 pounds. Inshore made a variety of species their targets. Some caught abd released sharks, blacktips, spinners and atlantic sharp nose. The sharks were medium size and active. Spanish mackerel ans tailor bluefish were caught in the ocean along the beach. A lot of speckled trout and bluefish were caught in the sound. The speckled trout tended to be a couple inches under the size limit but there were some keepers and good action. The blue fish were from one pound to about a pound and a half. Miss Oregon Inlet caught flounders. Billy Hoenig from Virginia Beach got a citaion for his 48 pound wahoo.Scott Butters from Willow Springs, NC got a citation for his 125 pound big eye tuna.
