Outstanding offshore fishing.Lots of good size yellowfin tunas and gaffer size dolphins. Several boats caught wahoos, one weighed in at 48 pounds. An impressive big eye tuna was landed it weighed 125 pounds. Inshore made a variety of species their targets. Some caught abd released sharks, blacktips, spinners and atlantic sharp nose. The sharks were medium size and active. Spanish mackerel ans tailor bluefish were caught in the ocean along the beach. A lot of speckled trout and bluefish were caught in the sound. The speckled trout tended to be a couple inches under the size limit but there were some keepers and good action. The blue fish were from one pound to about a pound and a half. Miss Oregon Inlet caught flounders. Billy Hoenig from Virginia Beach got a citaion for his 48 pound wahoo.Scott Butters from Willow Springs, NC got a citation for his 125 pound big eye tuna.
Despite some nasty weather today, we did have some great catches of fish. Our offshore fleet came in with good catches of yellowfin tuna and dolphin, plus a wahoo. our neashore boats caught spanish mackerel, bonita and bluefish and the inshore fleet arrived back with sharks, also sharks caught on a fly and a citation cobia. Sorry, no photos from today as it was raining and just too nasty for cameras.

FAT TUESDAY...Boat loads of FAT YELLOWFIN TUNA and GAFFER DOLPHIN...just in case you don't know, "GAFFER" means dolphin so big that the mate has to use a gaff to pull them into the boat. Kent Hathaway from right here in Kitty Hawk caught an 80 lb. CITATION WAHOO. Ryan Baker from Newport News,Va. released a BLUE MARLIN. IN SHORE reports "GOOD SPECKLED TROUT". All the offshore boats had good catches of big gaffer dolphin and good size yellowfin tuna. Everyone enjoyed the fishing and brought home a special treat for the table. Inshore boats are starting to catch spanish mackeral and there are lots of active tailor bluefish. Open boats fishing in the sound are also catching tailor bluefish and speckled trout. The speckled trout are on the verge of getting rolling, only a couple degrees increase in water temperature and they will be at their best.
Our Offshore fleet reported excellent Yellowfin Tuna catches, good Dolphin catches.Two citiation sized Big Eye Tunas, one weighing in at 103 pounds caught by James Bowie of Jamestown,NC, the second Big Eye Tuna Weighing in at 128 pounds was caught by Christopher Shields of Suffolk,VA. Our Nearshore boats reported great bluefish catches in the morning. One Nearshore went all day wreck fishing reported limit of Tile Fish, Sharks, and Albecore. Our Inshore boats reported good Speckled Trout fishing. Our headboat the Miss Oregon Inlet reported some catch and release flounders.

Gulf stream fishing today brought in LARGE quantities of dolphin and some good catches of yellowfin tuna. Inshore center console boats had great speckled trout and a few flounders.
